Instead of eagerly waiting for Bhediya 2, fans were taken aback when director Amar Kaushik, together with Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Productions, unveiled the news about Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming project, Mahavatar. In a recent interview, Kaushik discussed his switch from horror-comedy genres to mythology. He explained the motivation behind this change, disclosing that he had been captivated by mythological tales since childhood, as his mother used to narrate them to him.
During an interview with ETimes, filmmaker Amar Kaushik discussed the creation of Vicky Kaushal’s character Mahavatar. He revealed that he has long been interested in delving into various genres, and mythology has held a special appeal since his early years. Kaushik explained that he was captivated by the stories his mother used to tell him about mythology, which fueled his curiosity about how those tales might have unfolded.
In the film business now, having had some movies prosper under my wing, I’m blessed to have producer backing. I’ve picked up valuable insights on visual effects and narrative, and this undertaking seems equally an obligation and a test. I perform optimally when confronted with a difficult situation.
Initially, TopMob broke the news that Vicky and Dinesh Vijan have joined forces on an exciting upcoming venture. Later on, a sneak peek of Kaushal from the movie, named Mahavatar, was unveiled by the creators.
The initial poster displaying Vicky Kaushal portraying Lord Parshurama, boasting an impressive makeover with long tresses, will undoubtedly astonish spectators. Additionally, it highlights a Trishul, the weapon he wields in the depiction.
As per the latest update from Bollywood Hungama, the production team intends to start shooting in November 2025.
Earlier reports indicated that the initial work on Mahavatar would commence in the early months of next year due to the grandeur of the production. Notably, it was highlighted that this movie represents an unprecedented challenge for both Maddock Films and actor Vicky Kaushal.
It takes about 6 to 8 months to prepare for the making of the movie, and it’s scheduled to be released around Christmas in the year 2026. (Informal)
