As a longtime golf enthusiast and avid sneaker collector, I must say that the new adidas Samba x Malbon Golf collaboration has truly hit the sweet spot for me. Growing up, I’ve seen the Samba evolve from a humble court shoe to a versatile style icon, but its return to the golf course is a revelation.
Despite the fact that street versions of adidas Samba seem to come in every imaginable color scheme and sport numerous collaborative logos, there’s still potential for growth in the golf version. After a long period of inactivity, adidas revived this iconic footwear on the golf course in 2022, incorporating a cushioned midsole and spikeless outsole. The early releases showcased vibrant colors and the traditional white and gum colorway, and as popularity grew, Kith joined forces to redesign the shoe. Now, Malbon Golf is ready to add its unique touch.
Starting in early 2023, the two brands began their partnership by launching a line of jointly branded collections. They then collaborated on the Crosby Collection at the start of this year, a formal collaboration involving adidas, Malbon, and the Bing Crosby estate. This newest project leans towards their initial type of collaboration. The highlight is the Samba shoe, accompanied by men’s and women’s golf attire. Unlike just placing an “M” logo on a pre-made item, Malbon provides a unique touch to the low profile design, featuring two-tone green serrated stripes, a light brown outsole, metallic gold accents, and light gray suede to emphasize the signature split toe detail.
The array of clothing choices available boasts numerous green options that harmonize well, such as the Color Block Ultimate365 Sport Polo and the less prominent Ultimate365 Anorak. Noteworthy women’s items consist of a long-sleeved shirt featuring Three Stripes on both sleeves, a coordinating skort, and an Ultimate365 Sleeveless Mock in a vivid sky blue hue. The entire collection will be released a bit later today, specifically at 10AM PST, on Malbon’s official website.
