As someone who has witnessed the gradual transformation of our planet over the years, I find the “Atlas of the New World” exhibition at MAMM to be a profound and thought-provoking display. The work of Edoardo Delille and Giulia Piermartiri captures the harsh realities of climate change in a way that is both hauntingly beautiful and deeply disturbing.
From April 13 to August 18, 2024, the Multimedia Art Museum (MAMM) in Moscow will display “Atlas of the New World,” an exhibition curated by Olga Daniele. This showcase highlights the photography work of Edoardo Delille and Giulia Piermartiri, two talented Italian photographers.
From 2019 onwards, Delille and Piermartiri embarked on a journey to record the unforgiving impacts of climate change. Their work covers Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America, focusing on areas at risk and providing insights into how these regions could appear by the end of this century.
Daniele demonstrates the idea: “Climate change will significantly alter the global map over long periods, yet these transformations won’t be noticeable for many years. Our goal was to present the future as it appears today. By utilizing United Nations climate data and capturing current landscapes, we superimposed future predictions onto them. The outcome is a collection of eerily surreal images that provide a glimpse into what could potentially unfold.”
Explore the “Atlas of the New World” to grasp a bleak image of what our world might become unless we tackle climate change. For further insights, visit MAMM’s website.
