Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ Adaptation Picked Up by Warner Bros.

As a seasoned gamer of both the silver screen and the digital realm, I must say, the news of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi starring in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights has me absolutely thrilled! The combination of these talented artists with Fennell’s unique vision is a match made in gaming heaven.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group has secured the rights for Emerald Fennell’s film version of ‘Wuthering Heights,’ titled ‘Saltburn.’

Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are set to lead in an upcoming movie production, titled “Heights“. This project has garnered significant attention from various streaming platforms and studios, even sparking a bidding war. Warner Bros., in part due to their commitment to releasing the film globally in cinemas, ultimately secured the rights for this project.

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy expressed their excitement about collaborating with MRC, Emerald Fennell, and LuckyChap for the feature film adaptation of Wuthering Heights in a statement. They were immediately captivated by Emerald’s vision for the film, as well as the stellar cast featuring Margot and Jacob. With this talented team, they aim to bring the movie to cinemas globally.

The MRC is providing funding for a project that’s being produced by LuckyChap, a production company founded by Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara, who are under Warner Bros. Nora Fennell is responsible for writing the script, directing it, and also producing this project.

In this new adaptation of Emily Brontë’s renowned novel, Robbie will take on the role of Catherine Earnshaw, with Elordi portraying Heathcliff. First published in 1847, this book tells the story of their tumultuous relationship marked by passion and revenge, which begins when they meet at Wuthering Heights, a home that gives the novel its name.

Since our initial talks with Emerald about ‘Wuthering Heights’, we’ve been captivated by her idea to create a work that embodies the yearning and sorrow of the book, all infused with her unique touch and exquisite style. We are excited to collaborate with Warner Brothers and LuckyChap to help bring Emerald’s movie to global viewers,” expressed Brye Adler and Jonathan Golfman enthusiastically.

The agreement reunites multiple parties once more. In the literary world, Wuthering Heights represents the second joint effort between MRC, LuckyChap, and Fennell, following their previous collaboration on Saltburn, a captivating drama that streamed on Amazon and featured Elordi. This partnership between LuckyChap and Fennell is also their third, as they initially worked together on the 2020 drama, Promising Young Woman. This film earned Fennell an Oscar for Best Screenplay and garnered five additional Oscar nominations.
