As a fan of both Margo Robbie and Saturday Night Live, I must say that the “The Librarian” sketch from her 2016 episode was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride of hilarity and horror! The way they flipped the “sexy librarian” trope on its head with Miss Dalton’s demonic dance was pure genius. The slow-mo fantasy sequence set to Yello’s “Oh Yeah” had me cackling in delight, only to be followed by a chill down my spine as she transformed into a terrifying ghoul!
In a terrifying sketch starring Margo Robbie, Saturday Night Live turned the “sexy librarian” trope on its head.
In the October 1, 2016 episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL), Season 42, actor Bobby Moynihan portrayed Jeremy, a pupil with feelings for his school’s librarian, Miss Dalton, who was played by Robbie.
When Jeremy’s companions, portrayed by Kenan Thompson, Kyle Mooney, Mikey Day, and Alex Moffat, accidentally reveal his crush to Miss Dalton, she inquires, “So, what are your plans now?
In a scene reminiscent of 1980s teen comedies such as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Weird Science, Miss Dalton begins to disrobe in a dreamy, slow-motion sequence accompanied by the iconic new wave tune “Oh Yeah” by Yello.
Initially, the boys are captivated by Miss Dalton’s dance, which appears to be a striptease. However, their fascination soon turns into horror as she begins plucking handfuls of hair, revealing a bald head beneath. The situation becomes increasingly peculiar as she consumes a banana peel, an entire lollipop including the stick, and removes her false teeth to reveal jagged teeth underneath.

In a chilling turn of events, Miss Dalton persists with her ominous dance, disclosing that she bears not just one, but two tattoos of Haley Joel Osment – one from his ‘The Sixth Sense’ phase, and another mysteriously portraying his current likeness. As the librarian catches sight of another woman (Cecily Strong), she becomes ensnared by Miss Dalton’s enchantment. The two women share a kiss before, in an instant, Miss Dalton abruptly snaps the other woman’s neck.
“Straight up murder?!” Thompson’s character screams in slo-mo terror.
In this scene from Season 42, comedy cast member Beck Bennett appears wearing a snake around his neck, engaging in a dance with Miss Dalton. As she finishes her spooky performance, the librarian moves menacingly towards Jeremy and flickers her long, forked tongue across his cheek.
Miss Dalton’s shocking conclusion piques the boys’ curiosity once more, as she begins to undo her blouse – don’t miss the finale for their astonishing response!
