The ballots are being forwarded to an international voting committee comprising over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry experts. To qualify for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, artists need to demonstrate impact on fellow musicians, a long-lasting career with a substantial body of work, innovation, and exceptional skill in their style and technique.
The honorees are scheduled to be revealed in April, followed by an annual induction event taking place in the fall, specifically in Los Angeles. During this ceremony, individuals chosen from three unique categories – Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award – will not only receive their honors but also gain entry into the Hall of Fame.
2024 saw a remarkable night at the music awards for me as a gamer, with performer honors going to legends like Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Mattheys Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest. The Musical Excellence Award was bestowed upon Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield. Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton were recognized with the Musical Influence Award. Lastly, Motown executive Suzanne de Passe was honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award. It was an unforgettable evening celebrating the timeless impact these icons have had on music.
