Mark Zuckerberg Taps Daniel Arsham to Sculpt 7-Foot Statue of His Wife Priscilla Chan

As a longtime observer of the tech world, I’ve always found Mark Zuckerberg to be an enigmatic figure, and his latest venture into the realm of art only serves to further pique my curiosity. The seven-foot statue of his wife Priscilla Chan, crafted by Daniel Arsham, is a fascinating piece that seems to defy the digital age in which Zuckerberg has made his mark.

Over and over again, Mark Zuckerberg consistently finds himself at the center of attention due to surprising events, such as the instance where he was snapped hydrofoiling with a glistening layer of sunscreen on his face, or the widely shared meme featuring the unkempt hairstyle of Meta’s CEO – an image that had been heavily retouched for dramatic effect. The latest addition to this list includes a sculpture of Zuckerberg’s wife, Priscilla Chan, which was created by artist Daniel Arsham.

The seven-foot sculpture has an ancient feel, a style favored by Arsham, who is also recognized for making modern artifacts look like fossilized relics. Chan’s image is crafted from weathered and oxidized copper, given a dark teal finish. Surrounding her is a gleaming fabric that resembles a himation, draped around the body of the sculpture.

In a recent Instagram post, Chan remarked, “More of us is always better,” as she posed next to a statue while sipping coffee from a mug. Zuckerberg shared that the artwork was inspired by the “ancient Roman practice of sculpting one’s wife.” Chan and Zuckerberg first crossed paths at Harvard, where they were students together, and tied the knot in 2012. They are proud parents to daughters Maxima, August, and Aurelia.
