As a seasoned movie critic with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the upcoming series, “Agatha: All Along,” has piqued my interest like no other Marvel production to date. The tantalizing prospect of delving deeper into the enigmatic Agatha Harkness, played by the incomparable Kathryn Hahn, is akin to unearthing a long-lost treasure chest filled with secrets and intrigue.
The highly-anticipated series, titled “Agatha: All Along“, is scheduled to make its debut on Disney+ on September 18, 2024. This special two-part premiere will mark the streaming service’s major Halloween event series for the year. As a spin-off and continuation of the hit series “WandaVision“, “Agatha: All Along” will shine a light on the captivating character, Agatha Harkness, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn. Following in the footsteps of series like “Loki” and “Echo“, this show aims to explore a character who was once an adversary, providing fresh insights into their personality.
It has been a topic of discussion among fans if “Agatha: All Along” marks the concluding tale for Agatha Harkness, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn. However, it appears that Marvel Studios has more in store for this character. In an interview with Screen Rant, Brad Winderbaum, Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation at Marvel Studios, hinted that there will be further adventures featuring Agatha. He mentioned that her next appearance is imminent, as she will play a role in the upcoming third season of “What If…?” You can find his full statement below.
“With Kathryn Hahn’s remarkable portrayal of Agatha on screen, fans are eager for more. Fortunately, there will indeed be additional Agatha content in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In fact, she is featured in an episode from What If…? season 3 – I can’t reveal too much, but it’s one of my personal favorite episodes ever produced, and it could potentially include a grand musical sequence. Her performance is truly outstanding, leaving us all yearning for even more.”
Where Will Agatha Strike Next?
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Agatha Harkness is set to make an appearance in the third season of What If…?, following the intriguing announcement at the D23 Marvel Animation panel about the involvement of Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, and Ironheart in the series’ grand finale. Given the hints dropped in Agatha All Along about its musical inclinations, it’s no shock that her episode could potentially include a tune. The specifics of her storyline remain unclear, but I, along with many others, am eagerly anticipating another confrontation between Agatha and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
With a talented performer like Hahn, Agatha Harkness could potentially be a significant lynchpin of the MCU, connecting various corners of the franchise. Marvel Television has a Vision series in the works, so Agatha could appear in that, as both it and Agatha All Along are WandaVision spin-offs. Rumors have circulated that Marvel Studios has plans for a Young Avengers project to revolve around the search/resurrection of the Scarlet Witch. Agatha All Along features Joe Locke as a character named Billy, indicating he is Billy Kaplan/Wiccan from the Young Avengers, the son of the Scarlet Witch and Vision. That seems to imply that Agatha All Along is not only a continuation of WandaVision and exploration of Agatha Harkness but also another key part in laying the foundation for The Young Avengers, which is rumored to be one of the newly announced Marvel movies coming out between Doomsday and Secret Wars.
In simpler terms, Agatha Harkness might join an upcoming Marvel team focusing on supernatural characters such as Blade, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and potentially Ghost Rider. This team could be either The Legion of Monsters or the Midnight Suns, both hinting at a growing emphasis on mystical heroes within the Marvel universe. With more Agatha Harkness and Kathryn Hahn appearances expected in the MCU, fans can look forward to seeing these characters together.
