Marvel Contest of Champions continues its ten-year anniversary celebrations with The Reckoning

  • Marvel Contest of Champions is ten, and the celebrations are well underway
  • The latest arch is in Act 9, Chapter 1 – The Reckoning
  • In suitably dramatic fashion there are new villains to take on and new mysteries to solve

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Marvel Contest of Champions continues to impress me with its relentless updates and engaging storylines. The tenth-anniversary celebrations are not just a milestone but a testament to the game’s longevity and popularity.

In keeping with the tenth anniversary festivities, Marvel Contest of Champions – Kabam’s leading comic book-themed game – is introducing fresh storylines. This latest chapter is Act 9, Chapter 1, titled “The Reckoning”. Details on the ground are scarce, but a newly released trailer hints at some incredible perils that lie ahead for you to confront.

In the recently revealed trailer, you can watch Doctor Doom and Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) joining forces uncommonly, as they delve deeper into the mysteries of Ouroboros and the malevolent Chronoserphant. This exploration will introduce updated, wicked and enhanced iterations of familiar characters, with X-23 (Orochi) serving as a prime example of these new formidable bosses you’ll have to confront.

There are numerous tasks awaiting you, and a novel system called SCOURGE, similar to the enemy threat level in XCOM. If left unchecked, it could escalate to a point where you’ll find yourself dealing with quests teeming with challenges far beyond your capacity. To avoid being overwhelmed, make sure you manage your SCOURGE effectively.

Reckon this

Say what you like about Contest of Champions but it’s definitely authentically Marvel in that it seems there’s always another “must-see” event taking place somewhere in the multiverse. In this case, there’s the usual crop of shadowy, evil versions of your favourite characters to spot. All it’s missing is the phrase “everything will change” or words to that effect. But for a tenth-anniversary, this promises to be as big and dramatic as you can get on mobile.
