In the coming days, Marvel enthusiasts are gearing up for the upcoming MCU film, titled “Captain America: A New Era“, by revisiting the earlier Avengers and Captain America flicks. At present, all five Avengers films, Captain America: Civil War, as well as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Spider-Man: Across the Block, are among Disney+’s Top 10 most watched, indicating a surge in viewings.
In the latest “Captain America” movie, which marks the 35th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Anthony Mackie makes his first solo appearance as the new Captain America, having previously assumed the role of the First Avenger. Alongside him, Harrison Ford portrays President Thaddeus Ross (taking over from the late William Hurt). Additionally, Danny Ramirez plays Joaquin Torres, who is the latest character to take on the Falcon mantle, and a number of villains make an appearance, including Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Stern (The Leader) and Giancarlo Espisito as Sidewinder.
To fully prepare for the upcoming release of “Brave New World“, it’s logical that fans are catching up on the entire Avengers saga, including the four movies and the previous Captain America films featuring Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (2021). It has been almost six years since Cap retired at the end of “Avengers: End Game”, and four years since Sam Wilson (Mackie) took on the role of Captain America. This author, like many others, will be spending a marathon movie-watching session before the new film hits screens.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Could Perform Even Better at the Box Office
Approximately a month ago, MovieWeb announced that the estimated box office earnings of Captain America: Brave New World during its opening weekend were predicted to range from $86 million to $95 million. Since then, Marvel and Disney have chosen to debut the movie over the three-day President’s Day weekend, allowing many American children to enjoy a whole week off. This extended break could potentially boost the film’s performance.
Comparatively speaking, the initial Cap movie grossed approximately $176.6 million domestically and $370.5 million globally. Conversely, the second film earned $259 million domestically and $714.4 million worldwide, while the third, essentially an Avengers-like production, raked in a staggering $408 million domestically and over $1.15 billion globally. In China, ticket sales for the first day of the initial Cap movie surpassed last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine by earning an impressive $346,000.
This piece of information indicates that the movie, initially titled Captain America: New World Order and subject to numerous postponements due to extensive rewrites and reshoots, is actually coming in under budget compared to previous speculations. The estimated budget for Brave New World is approximately $180 million, which is significantly lower than the reported $350 million.
Furthermore, there’s a lot of positive chatter about the movie, but social media restrictions won’t be lifted until tonight at 9 pm Pacific Time. As per ComicBookMovie, the general consensus is that “Brave New World” is “fairly good to quite good,” which might account for a moderate opening (relative to past MCU blockbusters) and a potential domestic gross of up to $274 million. Ultimately, the success of the film will depend on word-of-mouth.
Captain America: A Daring New Era
The film, Captain America: A Daring New Era, is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day, offering early screenings a day prior as an exciting preview.
