Marvel Revealed The ‘Greatest Killing Machine In History’ Isn’t A Marvel Villain

Marvel Revealed The 'Greatest Killing Machine In History' Isn't A Marvel Villain

As a long-time comic book enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless characters across different universes, I must admit that Marvel‘s decision to introduce Xenomorphs into their world has left me both thrilled and apprehensive. The Xenomorph, originating from the “Alien” series, is undeniably one of the most ruthless killing machines in the history of science fiction. However, it’s heartening to see that even in this alien menace, there exists a force more formidable – the symbiote.

It’s never in doubt that the Marvel Universe is teeming with formidable, relentless characters who are prepared, eager, and highly capable of inflicting harm on others in countless ways. Characters like Wolverine with his adamantium claws, deities such as Thor and Hercules, and Deadpool, who can eliminate you using a multitude of weapons or annihilate you with an even more lethal jest, possess immense power and can effortlessly prove it.

As a diehard Marvel fan, I was taken aback by a recent revelation: The deadliest and most formidable weapon in the expansive Marvel Universe isn’t associated with any villain, Avenger, or X-Man we’re familiar with. Instead, it hails from the “Alien” film series – the terrifying Xenomorph!

In the first installment of “Aliens vs Avengers” by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, the narrative labels the Xenomorph as “the deadliest killing machine in the cosmos.” Given the abundance of superhumans, aliens, and extraterrestrial beings, this claim is impressive. However, Xenomorphs are engineered with specific functions: reproduction, destruction, and consumption. With their arrival on an Earth similar to that of the Avengers, one can only imagine the chaos they will unleash.

Although the Xenomorph is an unbeatable killing machine, there’s another alien species that outdoes it when it comes to dominating human hosts: the symbiote. Towards the end of the comic, Miles Morales encounters a Facehugger and his suit manages to fuse with the young alien, eliminating the danger. However, the symbiote doesn’t simply take control; instead, it absorbs the alien but maintains its unique traits and characteristics. This symbiote is not only one of the most resilient entities in the Marvel Universe, but it’s also stronger than a Xenomorph, at least for now, during this stage of its lifecycle.

This isn’t the first time Alien has crossed over with other comic

Although xenomorphs and superheroes may appear to be an unusual match, it’s not the first time that the H.R. Giger-designed creatures have encountered famous characters from the comic book world. Starting in 2020, Marvel Comics has been publishing “Alien” comics and crossovers due to the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney. However, even before this collaboration, the sci-fi franchise had already engaged in crossovers with DC Comics characters. For instance, Dark Horse Comics published “Superman vs. Aliens” in 1995, where Superman, symbolizing goodness, confronted the amorality of the Xenomorph Queen. In 1997, Batman faced off against the xenomorphs, and later, in 2000, Green Lantern Hal Jordan took on the alien menace in “Green Lantern/Aliens.” These crossovers were so popular that both the Superman and Batman stories received sequels — “Superman/Aliens II: God War” and “Batman/Aliens II.

As a hardcore gamer, I’ve found myself in some pretty wild crossovers between the “Alien” franchise and other non-DC Comics worlds. For instance, I’ve seen Rebellion’s gritty antihero Judge Dredd go head-to-head with some nasty Xenomorphs in both “Judge Dredd vs. Aliens: Incubus” and “Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens: Splice and Dice.” Dark Horse Comics even published a crossover with Buffy the Vampire Slayer titled “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: In Space, No One Can Hear You Slay!” back in 2012. And who could forget the encounter with independent comic book sensation Vampirella in 2015? It’s been one intergalactic battle after another!

Apart from the “Alien vs Predator” crossovers published prior to Marvel acquiring the license, there have also been stories where the Alien and Terminator franchises intersect, showing that these two universes are linked. It’s worth noting that Xenomorphs are masters of causing chaos worldwide in their unique fashion, and remember, in space you can’t hear a scream, not even within the Marvel Universe.
