Towards the close of this current week, Marvel Rivals is set to introduce two more members of the Fantastic Four: Johnny Storm, also known as The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm, who goes by The Thing. With their arrival, the full lineup for Season 1, as previously promised, will be complete.
NetEase introduces a fresh duelist character in the form of the Human Torch. Similar to Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, he operates as a strategic combo, but unlike them, his abilities revolve around fire, making him an aerial hero with quite the fiery arsenal at his disposal.
Human Torch Ability Breakdown
Just like how I’d soar through the skies as Iron Man, the Human Torch will take flight too! Ready for action, he’ll be blazing above, raining down fiery assaults against our adversaries.
Here’s the official character showcase for Johnny Storm:
The official description for the character reads:
Johnny Storm is known for being both hot-tempered and attractive within the Fantastic Four team, always maintaining a stylish demeanor while raising the temperature. Johnny embarked on an exhilarating space voyage with his sister, aiming to explore the stars; however, following this experimental mission, he gained the ability to light himself ablaze, transforming into the Human Torch, the brightest star in their midst!
The Human Torch brings a fiery intensity to every fight, blazing battles with flames hotter than the sun. When he’s not engulfing Dracula’s armies in searing flames, he’s flying through the city to collect Chronovium and salvage pieces of the Time Reintegration Device from various time streams.

Here’s a breakdown of the Human Torch’s abilities:
- Primary Fire: Fire Cluster – Johnny launches a fireball that can split to cover a lot of damage. It has a fast rate-of-fire, but has to be recharged after six shots.
- Right Click: Blazing Blast – Johnny launches a fireball that creates a flame field in specific areas.
- E: Pyro-Prison – Johnny can connect the flame fields that he’s cast on the map to form a firewall that will deal burning damage to enemies. It’s also said to damage enemies within the wall.
- F: Flaming Meteor – Johnny dives toward the ground and can stun nearby enemies. This also has the ability to knock them back.
- LShift: Plasma Body – Johnny enters a state of accelerated flight.
- Ultimate: Supernova – Johnny unleashes shockwaves to deal damage to any enemies that are nearby. During this state, the flame fields will turn into fire tornados which come in handy with…
- Team-Up Ability: Omega Fire Storm – Johnny can turn Storm’s hurricane into a fiery hurricane which can cause more damage and even be powerful enough to destroy structures. Likewise, Storm can also do the same for Johnny’s fire tornadoes with her ultimate.
“Flame On!”

Johnny’s flying skills are reminiscent of Iron Man, yet there’s a key difference: his health isn’t as robust. To avoid potential danger from snipers, it’s crucial that he keeps moving and stays out of sight lines.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve come to appreciate Torch’s unique strengths, despite his slightly more vulnerable build compared to other heroes. He packs a punch with his damaging abilities, and his rapid-fire attack rate surpasses even the legendary Iron Man in this aspect.
The Fantastic Four, consisting of two duelists, a vanguard, and a strategist, form a well-balanced team, likely intentionally designed for the game. It’s clear that players will be able to utilize the full roster when the Human Torch and the Thing join the game on February 21.
Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
