As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Marvel Rivals has been a breath of fresh air in the current gaming landscape. The game’s initial launch was impressive, and it’s heartening to see NetEase addressing issues so swiftly.
Fans of Marvel Rivals are already eagerly anticipating when the initial patch update will be released, given that the game has only just been out for a week. Despite its impressive reviews, it’s clear that the game isn’t flawless yet.
Notably, NetEase has already rolled out their initial update, addressing issues that players have pointed out since the game’s debut.
Marvel Rivals First Patch Update
Regrettably, it appears that this most recent update didn’t bring about any substantial alterations to the characters, meaning those who anticipated adjustments such as buffs or nerfs may feel disappointed, as there seem to be no noticeable changes.
Rather than addressing major issues, the team has resolved various aesthetic glitches associated with certain maps and character outfits. These imperfections have occasionally disrupted the gameplay experience in unforeseen manners. Here’s a developer’s note from the latest update:
We’ve spotted areas on the border of our latest map that seem to make characters get stuck. We’ve inspected the entire map and have been working to rectify this problem, but more changes might be necessary to fully resolve it. While we continue investigating and finding a solution to prevent recurrence, we appreciate your patience.
In these updates, it appears that the majority of changes made are to correct issues that could be classified as bugs. No adjustments were made to the ultimate abilities or final character kits, though challenges such as characters becoming immobile at specific locations on the map or ultimates failing to end correctly have been tackled.
It appears that the developers had identified these issues prior to the game’s release, yet solutions for them weren’t implemented in time for the launch. Nonetheless, the game could be played entirely, making the postponement justifiable given the circumstances.

What Kind of Fixes Do Players Want?
Upon the game’s debut, I’ve noticed several characters being labeled as ‘overpowered’ or ‘underpowered,’ with many players complaining about high damage output from certain characters or insufficient damage from tank heroes.
A notable figure who stands out is the Iron Fist, incredibly agile and potent. He’s capable of bringing down an airborne Iron Man, regardless of his speed across the landscape; once locked onto him, the Iron Fist will persistently cling and pummel him until he falls.
Initially, it was assumed that Vanguard characters such as Thor and Captain America would deliver powerful blows in the game. However, there are those who believe these characters, though known for their strength in the narrative, may not be as potent as expected.
Considering these insights, it’s anticipated that NetEase might release an update to adjust the hero’s abilities, yet others believe their power level is intentional to enhance gameplay enjoyment, making the game feel more exciting.
It’s likely that a well-balanced team will become standard in Marvel Rivals, given its anticipated league. Yet, since we’re currently in Season 0, developers might still be working on ironing out any issues before the launch of Season 1.
Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
