As a veteran gamer who has played countless hours of Marvel Rivals, I have to say that Star-Lord is hands down one of my favorite characters to play! From the moment I started using him, I was immediately impressed by his solid kit and the ability to dodge ultimates.
Being able to avoid taking damage from certain ultimate abilities like Scarlet Witch’s ‘Chaos’, Magneto’s charged attack, Iron Man’s projectile barrage, Doctor Strange’s ‘Eye of Agamotto’, Jeff the Land Shark’s swallow maneuver, and Black Panther’s ‘Tremble’ has given me a significant advantage in battles. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dodged an ultimate at the last second and emerged unscathed!
Thanks to the handy guide from @MetaTrixx on YouTube, I’ve been able to master Star-Lord’s dodge mechanics, which has made me a force to be reckoned with in this game. I’m not saying I’m invincible, but it sure feels like it sometimes!
What I love most about Star-Lord is his mobility and speed. He’s like a combination of Tracer, Soldier: 76, and Reaper all rolled into one character. With his ability to get behind enemies quickly and take them out, I find myself having a lot of fun on the battlefield.
The only tricky part about playing Star-Lord is learning how to keep attacking while moving. It took me a couple of hours to get used to it, but now I can’t imagine playing any other hero.
Overall, if you’re looking for an easy-to-master, mobile duelist with a solid kit, Star-Lord is the way to go. And let me tell you, nothing beats the satisfaction of dodging an ultimate attack and watching your enemies’ jaws drop in disbelief!
Oh, and one last thing: if you ever find yourself playing against me as Star-Lord, just remember – I dodge ultimates like it’s my job. So don’t bother using them, or you’ll be the one left with a sore mouse button from all that clicking!
Prior to the release of Marvel Rivals, conversations and rankings centered around which characters were most beginner-friendly. Consistently earning positive feedback was Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the role of a mobile combatant, Star-Lord’s equipment is robust, but some players have discovered that he can dodge away from ultimate abilities entirely.
How Star-Lord Can Dodge Ultimates
Mastering Star-Lord’s ability to evade some ultimates relies heavily on precise timing. Players need to time their dodges perfectly, ensuring the ultimate misses Star-Lord completely, thus keeping him unscathed. For those seeking advice, @MetaTrixx on Youtube has created an informative guide tailored for Star-Lord players, detailing how to dodge specific attacks from various characters.
So far, here are the characters that have ultimates that Star-Lord can dodge.
- Scarlet Witch – Press right-click the moment that Scarlet Witch says ‘Chaos’ during her ultimate. Star-Lord will avoid the burst of the attack and receive no damage.
- Magneto – Take note that Magneto has to charge this ultimate, so the timing is different everytime it’s triggered. Dodge the moment Magneto’s orb has an exclamation point above it while it’s headed toward your direction.
- Iron Man – Iron Man’s attack is like Magneto’s but the timing is going to be different depending on his distance. It’s best to make sure to know where he is, and watch out for the exclamation point on the projectile he launches.
- Doctor Strange – There are two things players can watch out for to dodge this ultimate. If you can’t see him, just make sure to dodge when you hear the word ‘Eye’. If you can see him, dodge the moment he curls up into a ball right before he releases his attack.
- Jeff the Land Shark – Jeff is tricky since his ultimate’s timing can be changed based on the player, but there is an audio cue whenever he’s about to swallow everyone. Just watch out for three bell chimes; dodge by the sound of the third bell, and Star-Lord won’t be swallowed along with everyone.
- Black Panther – This is an ultimate that Star-Lord can face head on. The moment players hear the word ‘Tremble’, make a dodge straight toward the attack, and this will push right through the ultimate, saving Star-Lord from getting any damage.
The Legendary Star-Lord
As a gamer, I find that Star-Lord’s toolkit might seem simpler than some other heroes in the lineup, but that simplicity is what makes him incredibly straightforward to grasp and excel with.
Star-Lord excels not only in inflicting substantial damage but also in maneuverability. This makes him particularly potent on the battlefield where he can sneak up behind opponents and eliminate them from advantageous positions. Given his speed, he can swiftly enter and exit any situation before it turns against him. In essence, Star-Lord combines the agile traits of characters like Tracer, Soldier: 76, and Reaper into a single character.
As a gamer, I’ve found that mastering this character requires a knack for maintaining his offensive streak while he’s on the move. With a bit of practice over a couple of hours or so, I believe anyone can become comfortable with his gaming arsenal.
Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
