Marvel Rivals Is Creating A Mode For Low-End PC Players

NetEase aims to cater to players with less powerful computers by adopting a strategy similar to Riot Games, aiming to optimize Marvel Rivals for lower-end gaming systems.

The team plans to roll out a new, experimental function aimed at addressing additional performance concerns for gamers using lower-end hardware systems, following requests from the community for improved optimization.

Switch Shader Compilation Mode Explained

According to their official announcement, Marvel Rivals will be implementing a new feature called “Switch Shader Compilation Mode.” This change aims to address the crashes caused by high memory consumption in PCs with 16GB RAM or lower, ultimately making the game run more smoothly on your system. The improvements that can be expected are as follows:

  • The shader compilation process will only run when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
  • -Game memory usage is dramatically reduced, cutting down on severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes triggered by memory shortages.

Sure thing!

NetEase acknowledges that since SSCM is still in experimental phase, there might be issues encountered when it’s turned on. These potential problems include:

1. Bug fixes may be required to ensure smooth functionality.
2. Users could experience occasional glitches or errors during operation.
3. Some features might not work as intended and require adjustments for optimal performance.
4. The system might need fine-tuning to accommodate user feedback and improve overall efficiency.

  • In each new match, some materials might initially render abnormally for a few frames before returning to their usual state. Rest assured, rendering will behave normally for the remainder of the match.
  • In each new match, you may encounter a slight stutter during the first rendering of certain materials, after which the frames stabilize into a smooth, continuous flow.
  • On systems with a limited number of CPU threads (6 or fewer), enabling both the Switch Shader Compilation Mode and AMD FSR3 Frame Generation concurrently might induce additional stutters.

Who should be Using This Feature?

As per NetEase, this particular feature is ideal for gamers using systems with 16GB of RAM or lower in memory capacity. If you encounter any problems, rest assured that our dedicated support team is on hand to help you out.

From my perspective as an enthusiastic player, it’s crucial for us to experiment with this new feature. By doing so, we’re helping NetEase gather valuable insights to refine and improve it in the long run. Keep in mind that it might not be flawless at the moment, but the ‘experimental’ label signifies its developmental stage, allowing room for growth and adjustments.

The Seasonally Structured Content Management (SSCM) will become accessible once Season 2 commences on the 11th of April. Meanwhile, the game Marvel Rivals has already been made playable on Xbox Series X|S, personal computers, and PlayStation 5.
