As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that Marvel Rivals has piqued my interest. The prospect of stepping into the shoes of these iconic Marvel characters and engaging in competitive play is nothing short of exhilarating.
As a die-hard gamer and an avid Marvel fan, I’m pumped about diving into the new arena with Marvel Rivals, the upcoming hero shooter that promises to bring my favorite characters from the Marvel universe to life in competitive gameplay! Here’s a sneak peek at the competitive scene:
What is ranked?
In this gaming environment, informally known as ‘Competitive’, the rank system is employed, which means that player’s abilities determine their positions, enabling them to engage in games and rivalries with others who possess comparable skills.
As you engage in gameplay, your position may fluctuate depending on your achievements, giving you a chance to move up or even slide down the ability scale.
Your rank is based on Rank Points (RP) with wins giving you points and losses taking them away.
As a passionate player, I usually kick off my gaming journey at the Bronze I level alongside other enthusiasts. However, it’s exciting to know that in future updates, a ranking placement system might be introduced. This means that if I consistently perform well, I could potentially start the game from a higher level, making the experience even more thrilling!
In simpler terms, Ranked mode operates based on seasons. This implies that after a specified period, everyone’s rank for that particular season will be frozen (and usually displayed on your profile to show where you ended up) and then reset for the next season, requiring you to start over in your quest to improve your standing again.
How to unlock ranked
In the present beta version, the Competitive mode becomes accessible when you reach level five. This gives players a chance to familiarize themselves with the game before diving right in. However, this could be different once the final version is released.
All ranks
There are a total of eight levels to progress through, and six out of these eight have three sub-categories each. Let me list them for you in their respective order from lowest to highest:
- Bronze (I-III)
- Silver (I-III)
- Gold (I-III)
- Diamond (I-III)
- Grandmaster (I-III)
- Eternity
- One Above All
Each of the divisions requires you to earn 100 RP before you can reach the next one.
After reaching the top two positions, your ranking solely depends on the quantity of RP points accumulated. If you don’t maintain regular gameplay, you may gradually forfeit your position.
All ranked rewards
Players who reach the Gold rank during the beta test will unlock the Tooth and Hammer spray.
As a dedicated gamer, I always look forward to the perks that come with advancing in the ranks of multiplayer games with a ranked mode. The higher I manage to climb, the more enticing rewards I reap at the end of each season. It’s all about climbing those leaderboards!
We’ll have to see if Marvel Rivals follows this same formula, but I’d say it’s highly likely.
