As a long-time Marvel fan who’s spent countless hours immersed in the rich lore of the Marvel Universe, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the announcement of NetEase’s upcoming game, Marvel Rivals. The prospect of this Overwatch-esque title, with its promise of cross-game collaborations, has me buzzing like Groot after a cup of coffee!
Despite the fact that NetEase’s Marvel Rivals hasn’t been released yet, there’s already significant excitement surrounding the upcoming game that appears to be similar to Overwatch from Marvel.
In much the same way as other major game franchises, Rivals is also looking forward to some partnerships in the future. Some titles have already been revealed to be a part of the “Chronoverses Collaboration,” so which games might join us for the launch of Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals Announces Incoming Collabs
As stated on the official Marvel Games website, games such as Marvel Rivals, Fortnite, Marvel SNAP, Puzzle Quest, and Marvel Future Fight are set to work together in collaboration.
To date, no particulars about the upcoming crossover have been disclosed, yet there’s a general assumption that it might predominantly feature characters originally designed for Marvel Rivals, potentially crossing over into other Marvel-centric properties.
Regarding the potential Fortnite crossover, certain fans speculate that the game might reprise its Galactus event. However, instead of the original Devourer of Worlds appearing, it seems like his daughter Galacta, who appears to be the primary symbol for Marvel Rivals, will make an appearance instead.
In the setting, Galactus towered menacingly in the distance while players devised strategies to repel him. Remarkably, this depiction was reportedly instrumental in shaping Galactus’ visual design for the approaching Fantastic Four film.
Indeed, there’s a chance Fortnite might introduce new characters or skins inspired by Marvel Rivals as well, but it appears a Galacta event could be easier for the developers to implement since it primarily involves modifying the Galactus model into that of Galacta.
Live Service Marvel Game
As a dedicated gamer, I’m always excited about Marvel Rivals, especially since it’s a live service game. This means we can anticipate some cool crossover events from time to time. Although the game isn’t set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’ve already unveiled some intriguing cosmetics for skins based on the MCU. For instance, we’re getting costumes for the Guardians of the Galaxy inspired by Vol. 3, and Thor’s outfit from Love and Thunder!
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice the diverse character appearances in Rivals, thanks to the comics-inspired cosmetics! With Marvel churning out two movies and three series annually, it wouldn’t shock me one bit if Rivals rolled out some cosmetics timed with promotions, boosting their marketing efforts.
Despite Rivals being labeled as an Overwatch clone, its open beta has sparked excitement among many fans. Players who are not familiar with it are eagerly anticipating the chance to experience what some believe is the natural evolution for Marvel-themed games.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel thrilled about the latest Marvel title that’s been released. So far, it seems to have struck a chord with the critics, who can’t seem to stop showering it with compliments! Whether or not it’ll be a massive success remains to be seen, but for now, I’m optimistic and eagerly awaiting my turn to play it!
Marvel Rivals is set to launch Dec. 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
