As a gamer who has witnessed the evolution of Hollywood from the perspective of a die-hard movie fan, I can’t help but feel like I’ve stumbled upon a time machine. The reunion of Ke Huy Quan and Hugh Jackman is not just a testament to their resilience and talent, but also a nostalgic journey back to the early days of Marvel and Hollywood.
The story of Ke Huy Quan’s acting career is well known by now. He was a child star appearing in beloved films like The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Today, he’s a star again, winning an Oscar for Everything Everywhere All At Once, and appearing in a major franchise series as a member of the Loki Season 2 cast. But in between he was still a key part of Hollywood, and that includes knowing Hugh Jackman as he was just becoming Wolverine.
Between significant on-screen roles, Ke Huy Quan worked behind the scenes. During this time, he was a stunt rigger and fight choreographer for the initial X-Men film, which featured Hugh Jackman’s debut as Wolverine. Approaching two decades later, they reconnected, and the Loki star recently expressed his congratulations to Quan on social media. In response, Ke Huy Quan commented…
I watched Deadpool and Wolverine, it was fantastic! Recently, I bumped into Hugh Jackman. The last time I met him was 24 years ago during X-Men filming when he was initially training as Wolverine. He remains as kind as I recalled. Massive congratulations to Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and the entire Deadpool crew on their record-breaking opening. Bravo! 🎉🎉🎉
24 years after their initial appearance, Ke Huy Quan and Hugh Jackman are now officially members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their paths since then have been long and varied, but the first X-Men film undeniably played a significant role in their journeys. I can’t help but imagine how fantastic it would have been if Quan could have joined the cast of Deadpool & Wolverine back then. Given that the movie was already packed with cameos, it wouldn’t have been too challenging to fit him in, especially considering the introduction of the TVA in Loki.
At D23, it was wonderful to witness Ke Huy Quan reconnecting with several notable actors from his past, such as spending time with Harrison Ford. It appears that both Quan and Hugh Jackman were overjoyed to see each other once more, judging by their expressions. Additionally, it seems that Quan enjoyed meeting _Deadpool_ and _Wolverine_ just as much as countless others have.

Quan praises Deadpool and Wolverine as “fantastic” characters, and many agree with him. The movie has been a massive hit in its debut week, marking one of Marvel’s most successful openings in years. For someone like Ke Huy Quan, who was involved from the start, it must have been particularly meaningful given that it seems to be a sort of farewell to the Fox/Marvel films.
There’s a possibility that both Hugh Jackman and Ke Huy Quan could be part of a future Marvel film. Although it’s not certain that we’ll see them return, the unpredictable nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe means that anything is possible – especially given that Robert Downey Jr. has come back too!
