As a gamer with a penchant for dark humor and a keen interest in Hollywood’s behind-the-scenes dramas, I can’t help but feel a sense of disillusionment upon hearing about the arrests in connection to Matthew Perry’s death. It seems that even in the realm of virtual escapades, one cannot escape the clutches of real-life villains.
A total of five people have been arrested and charged over the death of Matthew Perry.
US attorney Martin Estrada stated that the five individuals exploited Mr. Perry’s substance abuse problems for their personal gain and are facing charges for providing and managing thousands of dollars worth of ketamine to Perry. The accused parties include Kenneth Iwamasa, the late actor’s live-in assistant, along with doctors Jasveen Sangha (nicknamed “The Ketamine Queen”), Salvador Plasencia (“Dr. P.”), Mark Chavez, and Erik Fleming, a reported friend of Perry’s, who were also indicted.
It appears that Iwamasa is alleged to have been involved in a plot to spread ketamine, while Sangha and Plasencia are charged with the same conspiracy as well as distributing ketamine leading to someone’s death, intent to distribute methamphetamine, and falsifying records for a federal investigation.
In court records, there were messages exchanged between Plasencia and Chavez that revealed their intention to acquire ketamine for resale to an individual known as “victim MP.” A message from Plasencia said, “I’m curious how much this person will pay” and “let’s find out.” In simpler terms, the messages suggested they were planning to sell ketamine to victim MP and were interested in knowing how much he would pay for it.
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: After I tragically passed away, an investigation was launched by the DEA and LAPD following a toxicology report that pointed to ketamine as the cause of my death. Though it was known I was undergoing ketamine therapy for my anxiety and depression, authorities are now probing how I managed to acquire potentially deadly amounts and if those doses were obtained legally.
According to Estrada, the probe uncovered a vast illegal network hidden beneath the surface, which has been supplying substantial amounts of ketamine to Mr. Perry and others. He added that these criminals were fully aware of their actions’ immorality and potential harm to Mr. Perry, yet they persisted nonetheless, prioritizing profit over his well-being.
