In this ongoing gaming event, known as Player 0.0, the emphasis shifted from spectacle towards pure skill and gameplay prowess. Over a twelve-month span, players hailing from twenty different nations squared off in an exclusive mobile game that led to a series of regional qualifiers. The competition intensified when racing simulators were incorporated into the mix. A select number of top scorers were eventually summoned to Madrid for the finale, where they had the opportunity to interact with the brand’s long-term ambassador, Max Verstappen.
Gamers from Japan, Brazil, and other parts of the world joined forces through their shared enthusiasm for simulated racing on a virtual Zandvoort circuit, known for hosting the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix. In an intense gaming session, Slovenian sim racer Jernej Dovžan emerged victorious, being declared the winner by a four-time world champion. Verstappen expressed his admiration, stating, “The level of passion and commitment among these racers is astounding.” Emphasizing Heineken’s slogan, ‘When You Drive, Never Drink,’ he continued, “Player 0.0 consistently underscores the significance of skill, concentration, and wise decision-making—not just in racing but in everyday life.
