Maxton Hall Books Get English Release: Good News for Non-German Speakers

Enthusiasts of television shows often find themselves captivated by narratives revolving around affluent characters, and Maxton Hall is no different. Blending a boarding school saga with a Romeo-and-Juliet-esque love tale has proven to be a hit for Amazon, especially considering the series was originally produced in German but gained popularity after being dubbed into English. At last, I managed to catch up on one of Amazon’s top shows, and I must say, it did not fail to deliver on its entertaining premise and melodramatic atmosphere.

After finishing the series in record time, I was eager to obtain the books’ copies. However, I encountered a snag: the trilogy, titled Save Me, Save You, and Save Us, penned by Mona Kasten, is written in German instead of English. Fortunately, some positive news has surfaced recently.

To be completely transparent, I did study German in college, but my understanding beyond basic phrases such as “how are you?” is quite limited. I must express my sincere apologies to my college professor and everyone who invested their time in helping me excel at something other than German. Regrettably, grammar, context, and cultural nuances have never been my forte.

When I considered acquiring a copy of Maxton Hall to read before Season 2 was released, it’s safe to say that my expression was not one of eagerness to reacquaint myself with the language. Instead, my countenance bore a striking resemblance to Edvard Munch’s famous painting, The Scream. You know the image I’m referring to.

Maxton Hall Is Getting An English Language Version

For fellow enthusiasts of book-to-screen adaptations, here’s some exciting news: The publishers behind the popular Amazon series are planning to adapt the 2018 book series into English! Just a few weeks ago, I had only been daydreaming about watching Maxston Hall, but now that Season 2 is set for the 2025 TV schedule, this development couldn’t be more timely.

Starting July 1, 2025, Mona Kasten’s novel “Save Me” will be accessible to English readers. The subsequent books in the series, “Save You” (available September 2nd) and “Save Us” (November 4th), will also be released. Interestingly, the first two books are already up for pre-order on Amazon.

For the very first time, Mona Kasten’s inaugural novel “Save Me,” which serves as the foundation for the Maxton Hall series, is now being published in the English language. Check out this deal!

If you haven’t seen it before, this show is originally from Germany, but it takes place at a London boarding school, which can be confusing initially. The plot revolves around a character named Ruby Bell, who aspires to attend Oxford University. However, her journey is complicated by James Beaufort, a wealthy, arrogant student who creates problems but eventually develops feelings for Ms. Bell. In the first season, there are love affairs, scholarship competitions, and even death that significantly impact the storyline. When it was first released on the streaming platform accessible with Amazon Prime, it broke viewership records.

To clarify, the show in question became Amazon Video’s highest-rated non-U.S. release ever when it was streaming. It quickly earned a renewal for Season 2, and we’ve recently learned about what excitement Season 2 of Maxton Hall will bring. Here’s hoping that Season 2 thrives to ensure a third season is produced. I shudder at the thought of Maxton Hall being among the shows axed in 2025.
