‘Mayfair Witches’ Renewed for Season 3 at AMC

Drawing inspiration from author Anne Rice’s enchanting “Lives of the Mayfair Witches” trilogy, the series stars the talented Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding, a woman who uncovers her lineage to an illustrious dynasty of formidable witches and delves into her family’s rich, centuries-old legacy. This spellbinding tale is part of AMC’s The Immortal Universe, an intricately connected tapestry of narratives born from the imagination of Anne Rice, interwoven with the alluring world of Interview with the Vampire.

According to Variety’s report, it was announced at the AMC upfront presentation that Mayfair Witches will return for a third season. This upcoming season will be set in Salem, Massachusetts, a town notorious for the Salem Witch Trials. Thomas Schnauz, renowned for his work on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has been named as co-showrunner alongside series co-creator Esta Spalding. In a statement about the new season, Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, shared:

The intricate tales of the Mayfair family remain captivating, and setting their story within the historical city of Salem, known for its association with witchcraft, promises an engaging new chapter for this series and the broader Anne Rice Immortal Universe. We’re thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz into our team, alongside Esta Spalding and the Mayfair cast, as we delve deeper into a wider realm of witchcraft and the secrets of the Mayfair family. This season will further expand this fascinating franchise.

‘Mayfair Witches’ Expected Return Date

The show titled “Mayfair Witches” premiered on AMC on January 8, 2023, wrapping up its first season by February 26. A two-year gap followed before Season 2 aired on January 5, 2025, and completed its run in March 2. Interestingly, “Mayfair Witches” alternated with its counterpart from the Immortal Universe, “Interview With the Vampire,” which broadcast Seasons 1 and 2 in 2022 and 2024 respectively. The third season of “Interview with the Vampire” is scheduled for 2026, implying that if this alternating pattern continues, we might expect Season 3 of “Mayfair Witches” to premiere in January 2027.

In contrast, it’s been announced that a new series, called “Anne Rice’s The Talamasca: The Secret Order“, will air on AMC in 2025. This organization, known as The Talamasca, delves into the investigation, observation, and monitoring of the supernatural. They were previously introduced in “Mayfair Witches“. As a spin-off, “The Secret Order” seems to build upon this foundation. Interestingly, The Talamasca were initially presented in “Queen of the Damned“, the third book in Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles“. It’s anticipated that they will also feature in the upcoming adaptation of “Interview with the Vampire“. With this third Immortal Universe show, there may be a more flexible release schedule among the three titles.

The appointment of Thomas Schnauz to the creative crew of “Mayfair Witches” is quite thrilling and appears to be a strategic move by AMC to inject some fresh creativity. Although “Mayfair Witches” enjoys a good fanbase, it hasn’t managed to match the critical acclaim of “Interview with the Vampire.” Despite Season 2 being perceived as an improvement over Season 1, there is optimism that having one of AMC’s key writers from hit series like “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” on board could be just what “Mayfair Witches” needs.
