MCU Wonder Man Series Reveals First Look & Disney+ Release Date

As a movie critic with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest Marvel Studios announcements have left me positively giddy with anticipation. The return of Trevor Slattery to the MCU is like a fine wine that only gets better with age – or maybe it’s like a certain superhero who refuses to die – either way, I’m here for it!

A glance at the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series titled “Wonder Man” has unveiled both its titular protagonist and a debatable character from Phase 2 making a comeback. In this show, we follow Simon Williams, an actor competing for the role of Wonder Man in a new superhero film. However, when Simon acquires his own powers, he transforms into Wonder Man off-screen. Interestingly, this marks the first MCU project to delve into actors portraying superheroes on screen, and it also brings back the very first actor to feature in the MCU: Trevor Slattery, played by Ben Kingsley.

A fresh Marvel Studios TV preview offers fans a closer peek at the 2025 lineup of MCU shows. In glimpses of “Wonder Man,” Marvel tantalizes viewers with Mateen II’s portrayal of Simon Williams, and warmly welcomes Trevor Slattery back to the MCU. Long-standing fans may recall Trevor from his controversial role in Iron Man 3, a film that sparked debate. Initially hinted as The Mandarin (the legendary Iron Man antagonist), viewers were left in shock when it was disclosed that Kingsley’s character was merely an actor hired by Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce).

In addition to revealing the entertaining alliance between Simon Williams (Wonder Man) and Trevor Slattery, the footage also discloses the official title card for the series. This card is quite basic, displaying the show’s name in a clean sans-serif font with eye-catching yellow letters. Created by Destin Daniel Cretton, who brought us Shang-Chi, Wonder Man will also feature Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, and Manny McCord. Regretfully, we have to wait until December 2025 before the series premieres on Disney+.

Marvel Studios’ 2025 Slate Is Going to Be Stacked

It’s clear that Wonder Man was merely a tiny ripple compared to the vast array of shows Marvel Studios plans to release on their streaming platform in 2025. Alongside the freshly announced series, leaked footage hinted at numerous other live-action and animated productions slated for next year. The highlight of the big unveiling was the anticipated revival of Daredevil: Born Again. A sneak peek of this show included shots previously shown to select audiences at Comic Cons, as well as a first look at Daredevil (Charlie Cox) engaging in combat with Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), both donning their comic-accurate blue suits. Additionally, viewers caught a glimpse of Jon Bernthal’s return as The Punisher, who fans are hoping will star in his own series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The video features a peek at upcoming scenes from Ironheart, a series that has been awaited for quite some time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This show centers around Riri Williams, who was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and chronicles her transformation into the world’s next Iron Man. The trailer highlights a few animations such as Season 3 of What If…?, Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Similar to What If…? and Marvel Zombies, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be set apart from the main timeline of the MCU. However, Eyes of Wakanda is expected to align with the broader narrative of the MCU.
