MCU’s Kevin Feige Shares Big Updates on Blade and Gambit Live-Action Debut – and Not All of Them Are Positive

MCU's Kevin Feige Shares Big Updates on Blade and Gambit Live-Action Debut - and Not All of Them Are Positive

As a longtime Marvel fan and avid gamer, I have grown up with these iconic characters gracing both the pages of comic books and the screens of movies and TV shows. The anticipation for new adaptations and expansions of the MCU is always palpable, and I have eagerly awaited updates on projects like Blade and Gambit.

The head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has given fresh MCU news regarding Blade’s progression and the potential introduction of the beloved X-Men character, Gambit, into live-action stories. Amidst the ongoing reshuffling within Marvel Studios, with some projects undergoing modifications or even being dropped entirely, Feige discussed the current state of Blade and the prospect of a live-action Gambit appearance during interviews prior to the premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Wesley Snipes previously brought the iconic character Blade to life on screen in three successful films. However, a TV series attempt did not thrive. The MCU introduced Blade’s return through a post-credits scene in “Eternals,” featuring Mahershala Ali’s voice. Since then, plans for a new Blade movie have faced numerous setbacks and changes in directors and writers.

As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to share that the original rating for “Blade” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was intended for a PG-13 audience. However, this plan has evolved as Feige, the MCU mastermind, has reaffirmed that the film will join the ranks of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” as an R-rated production, perfectly suited to the character’s gritty nature. In a recent conversation with BlackTree TV, he also shed light on why the movie’s production had to be postponed.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been working on this project for quite some time now. Our top priority isn’t to rush things but rather take our time to ensure that we create an exceptional Blade film.

With an R-rating being a natural fit for Blade’s content, there’s a possibility that the film’s release date could change if things don’t progress swiftly. Delays could pose a risk to the project, as Mahershala Ali is currently committed but may not be able to wait indefinitely to start working on it.

Gambit Fans Are Set For Disappointment

A project featuring X-Men character Gambit, which has been anticipated for some time, is reportedly underway. However, those who have been eagerly waiting to see this character come to life in live-action may be disappointed, as Feige recently shared a disappointing update during an interview with ScreenRant. He stated that there are currently no plans for Gambit’s appearance in upcoming X-Men projects.

As a passionate gamer, I must admit I’m bummed out to my core when I can’t confirm if Gambit will be making an appearance in any upcoming live-action projects. [Laughs] But isn’t it fantastic how much excitement and anticipation his potential inclusion stirs up?

As a dedicated gamer and avid Marvel fan, I’ve grown fond of Gambit over the years. Sadly, it seems like he’s reached the end of his journey in the MCU, despite the massive online support for his return. With an endless stream of new characters waiting to make their mark and a long lineup of planned films and shows, it’s no surprise that there just isn’t enough space for every beloved character to shine in the live-action universe.
