As a fervent admirer of the acting world, I must say that Tahir Raj Bhasin’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Born into a family of pilots, he dared to defy convention and follow his passion for acting. His dedication to the craft, evident since his teenage years under Barry John’s tutelage, is commendable.

Although Tahir Raj Bhasin hails from a family with several pilots, he chose an unusual route and focused on his interest instead. He entered the world of entertainment over a decade ago but had been preparing to become an actor since he was 13 years old. As a youngster, he even trained under Barry John, a renowned English actor, director, and acting coach. His first major role was opposite Rani Mukerji in the film Mardaani. In essence, Tahir Raj Bhasin is the individual we’re referring to here.

Tahir Raj Bhasin initially gained recognition by portraying an anti-hero; later, in Force 2, he took on a villainous role opposite John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha. As audiences grew fond of him as a villain, they eagerly anticipated more of his performances. In the 2019 film Chhichhore, Tahir went to great lengths for his character, smoking 200 packs of green tea cigarettes without being a smoker in real life.

Speaking to IANS, Bhasin revealed that his character Derek in Nitesh Tiwari’s film was a heavy smoker. However, he clarified that he is not a smoker in real life, explaining, “I have always been very conscious about my health and have never smoked nor do I endorse smoking.

To give his character a more authentic appearance, the filmmakers cleverly replaced 200 packs of cigarettes with ones filled with organic green tea and basil. On-screen, when he “smokes” them, it looks just like cigarette smoke, thereby making his performance seem genuine to viewers.

In 2021, he played the part of Sunil Gavaskar, the ex-captain of the Indian cricket team, in the movie ’83 directed by Ranveer Singh. At present, he’s basking in the acclaim for his portrayal of the negative character, Vikrant Singh Chauhan, in the hit romantic crime drama series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein on television.

Following a triumphant debut, the creators unveiled the second edition of the show in November 2024. This Netflix production features Shweta Tripathi and Anchal Singh in significant roles.
