Approximately two decades back, Vineet Kumar Singh entered the Indian film industry. His first acting role was in the action-drama film “Pitaah,” which premiered in 2002 and featured Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nandita Das, and Om Puri. However, this man isn’t just an actor; he is also a licensed medical professional. Intrigued? Let’s delve deeper into his fascinating journey!
Originally from Varanasi, Vineet Kumar Singh developed into a top-tier athlete specializing in basketball at the national level during his upbringing. Despite having aspirations to enter the acting world, Singh opted against pursuing formal education in acting. Instead, he chose to attend medical school and graduated with exceptional grades. Currently, he holds both a medical license and a Bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery. Additionally, he completed an MD (Doctor of Medicine) program in Ayurveda.
Following his first movie, Vineet worked as an assistant director under Mahesh Manjrekar on several productions. However, he eventually shifted his attention to building a successful acting career. Subsequently, he appeared in some supporting roles before taking on the character Danish Khan in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur. Later, he could be seen in films such as Bombay Talkies, Ugly, Bollywood Diaries, and others.
2018 marked my journey towards embodying a boxer in Mukkabaaz, where I honed my athletic abilities over almost two years. Subsequent films like Gold, Saand Ki Aankh, and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl further established me as a familiar figure among viewers. This year, I was blessed with the chance to collaborate with director Laxman Utekar in the historical action film Chhaava.
In the film, Vicky Kaushal took on the lead character of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Kavi Kalash being portrayed by another actor as his friend and advisor. Alongside these notable actors, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Diana Penty, and others also appeared in the movie.
Afterward, he appeared in the movie “Superboys of Malegaon,” a coming-of-age film, where he was portrayed as Farogh. This film premiered in cinemas across the country in February 2025. More recently, he collaborated with Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda on the action-packed movie “Jaat.” Directed by Gopichand Malineni, this action-thriller finds him playing Somulu. The public has been highly praising his performances in both “Chhaava” and “Jaat.
