As an ardent fan and admirer of the illustrious Rakesh Bedi, I stand in awe of his remarkable journey in Bollywood. From his humble beginnings as a supporting actor in Hamare Tumhare to gracing our screens with scores of memorable performances over the decades, this versatile artist has truly proven that talent knows no boundaries.
Few Bollywood actors get the chance to launch their careers with major roles in the industry. Some secure minor roles initially, but these can serve as significant career milestones. One such actor is Rakesh Bedi, who began his film journey as a supporting character in the 1979 movie Hamare Tumhare. Since then, he has been involved in numerous films and television shows, demonstrating his exceptional talent as an artist.
Rakesh Bedi finds solace in theatre and continues to relish the chance to portray some of his timeless characters on stage. He is renowned for interpreting 24 distinct roles in Vijay Tendulkar’s acclaimed one-man play titled “Massage.” To this day, he is often invited to stages nationwide to deliver his captivating monologue from the play, under the direction of Harbansh Singh.
Throughout his illustrious film career, Bedi had the chance to collaborate with many prominent figures in the industry. Back in 1997, he acted alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla in Yes Boss. Later on, he took on a minor role in the Akshay Kumar-led film Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi.
Among his well-known movies are Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, paired with Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda; Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, featuring Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor; Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel; the sequels Phir Hera Pheri, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke; the upcoming Gadar 2, and many others.
Previously this year, Rakesh Bedi appeared in the film “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” along with Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. Subsequently, he portrayed the role of Triptii Dimri’s character Vidya Babla’s father in the video “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala,” sharing screen time with Rajkummar Rao. His most recent project was Saurabh Dasgupta’s film “Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam,” where he worked alongside Dhvani Bhanushali and Aashim Gulati.
I can’t contain my excitement as a die-hard fan! Just heard that our veteran Bollywood star has wrapped up shooting in Amritsar for his upcoming movie with Ranveer Singh. This action-packed thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar, is one of the most anticipated films, boasting an impressive cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna in key roles. And guess what? The title of this masterpiece has just been leaked – it’s called “Dhurandhar.” I can hardly wait to see these incredible talents on the big screen!
