Meet actor who started as an AD, worked with Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, but faced huge professional setback due to a controversy

As an ardent follower of Bollywood, I must say that Sooraj Pancholi’s journey has been quite a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows, triumphs, and tribulations. From working with stalwarts like Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, to being embroiled in the unfortunate Jiah Khan case, Sooraj’s life story is a testament to resilience and perseverance.

In the world of Bollywood, there are moments of triumph and challenge for every aspiring artist. This discussion is about an actor who has worked alongside stars such as Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan. However, a single controversy took center stage in his life, causing a substantial career setback.

Discussing none other than Sooraj Pancholi, who happens to be the son of Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. He initially worked as an assistant director on movies like Guzaarish (2010) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012). Before he could solidify his identity in the industry, a controversy arose involving him and the Jiah Khan case.

In 2013, Sooraj was apprehended due to his alleged involvement in inciting Jiah Khan’s suicide, as suggested by a note she left behind. After spending 22 days in prison, bail was granted to him by the Bombay High Court. Later on, Jiah Khan’s mother, Rabia Khan, requested a CBI investigation, and eventually, in 2018, he faced formal charges for abetting suicide.

In response to the accusations, Pancholi maintained his innocence. Following several legal disputes spanning multiple years, an independent CBI court in Mumbai exonerated the actor in 2023 for insufficient evidence.

During that time, a substantial portion of Pancholi’s life attracted unwanted media attention, affecting his professional career as well. Despite these issues, his first movie Hero, co-starring Athiya Shetty, was released in 2015 with the support of Salman Khan. Following this, he appeared in the film Time to Dance in 2019. Moreover, he made appearances in two music videos titled GF BF and Dim Dim Lights.

In a recent interview with The Times Of India, Pancholi openly discussed his upcoming Bollywood return, sharing that he has embraced personal growth and left behind any lingering legal constraints and emotional burdens. He expressed eagerness and joy about resuming his career on the big screen.

It’s great to be back working on location again. This movie is a biography focusing on one of India’s most courageous warriors, who valiantly protected the Somnath temple. In this project, I’m portraying another warrior,” he shared, expressing his feelings about his return to acting.
