In my perspective, life seldom adheres to a straightforward route. More often than not, it’s those unexpected twists and turns that guide us towards destinations we never envisioned. Just as the old saying goes, “When one door shuts, another opens,” life has an uncanny ability to keep progressing. A shining example of this is Ali Fazal. Prior to his rise to fame in Bollywood and securing a niche in Hollywood, Fazal’s life was worlds away from the glitz and glamour of show business. His journey serves as a testament that even humble beginnings can pave the way for extraordinary accomplishments.

Originally hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, but brought up in Allahabad, Ali received his education at La Martiniere College in Lucknow and The Doon School in Dehradun, a highly regarded boarding school in India. Surprisingly, acting was not his initial aspiration.

Prior to venturing into cinema, Ali was actively involved in school dramas and harbored a strong passion for basketball as well. Interestingly, he nurtured the ambition to become a professional player and even donned the colors of his school at national-level competitions.

Prior to embarking on his cinematic journey, the actor from Fukrey nurtured dreams far removed from the silver screen. In his school days in Uttarakhand, Ali was a passionate basketball player who even led his school team as its captain.

Ali was deeply involved in college-level competitions as well as regional championships, harboring dreams of representing India at the sport. Unfortunately, life took an unexpected turn. While playing in a match, Ali sustained a serious shoulder injury which caused a dislocation, necessitating surgery.

In a pivotal moment for me, I found myself at a crossroads due to unforeseen circumstances. Upon the recommendations of healthcare professionals, I decided to make a significant lifestyle change – stepping back from high-intensity sports and delving deeper into the vibrant world of cultural pursuits instead.

He didn’t develop a strong interest in theatre until he attended St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai, where he focused on studying economics.

Embracing this change, I found myself captivated by a hidden love – the world of theatre. What initially seemed like a pastime soon transformed into an irresistible pull, a vocation that resonates deeply within me.

Ali Fazal commenced his acting career in Bollywood with a short but impactful appearance in the hit movie “3 Idiots,” alongside stars such as Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Boman Irani.

Starting with only a small amount of screen time, he embarked on a promising cinematic journey. He subsequently featured in films like Always Kabhi Kabhi, Khamoshiyan, and Fukrey, which boosted his fame due to stellar performances. Additionally, his skills led him to the international stage with a role in the blockbuster Furious 7.

Fazal made a significant leap forward in his career with the highly successful Amazon Prime show Mirzapur, where he took on the character of Guddu Pandit. His powerful and multidimensional performance in this role garnered him considerable praise from viewers everywhere.

The show boasts outstanding acting from Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, and Harshita Gaur as well.
