Meg Ryan, Rashida Jones Join Natalie Portman for ‘Good Sex’ (Exclusive)

Rashida Jones and Meg Ryan are now part of the growing team of actors in the upcoming romantic comedy “Good Sex,” which Lena Dunham is directing for Netflix.

The pair will be working alongside Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, and Tucker Pillsbury, who is famously recognized as the singer-songwriter called Role Model, in a movie that Lena Dunham has penned as well.

Or simply:
The duo will team up with Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, and musician Tucker Pillsbury (aka Role Model) for a movie written by Lena Dunham.

The story revolves around a practical relationship therapist named Ally (Portman). At 40, having spent a decade in an unsuccessful relationship, she hesitantly re-enters the bustling New York dating world. However, as per Netflix’s summary, Ally encounters more than she anticipated when she crosses paths with two men – one in his twenties (Pillsbury) and another in his fifties (Ruffalo). These men challenge her beliefs about what constitutes good sex, suggesting that there is no one-size-fits-all formula for it.

Ryan is set to portray Portman’s bohemian therapist and guide, offering suggestions that seem fitting for a romantic comedy star.

Jones will play Portman’s raunchy and recently divorced best friend.

Dunham, known for addressing topics like relationships and sexuality through HBO’s ‘Girls’, is collaborating with her partner from Good Thing Going Productions, Michael Cohen. Simultaneously, Portman and Sophie Mas are producing under their banner, MountainA.

For Jones, “Sex” represents her initial role since the 2020 comedy film directed by Sofia Coppola, titled “On the Rocks“. Most recently, she appeared in the mystery series on Apple TV+ named “Sunny“.

Back in the day, I was known for my roles in movies like “When Harry Met Sally”, “You’ve Got Mail”, and “Sleepless in Seattle”. These romantic comedies put me on top as the reigning queen of the genre. Fast forward to 2023, I stepped behind the camera and in front of it too, for a film called “What Happens Later”. Guess who joined me? None other than David Duchovny!

Jones is repped by UTA and Schreck Rose. Ryan is repped by Gersh.
