Mel B Rejoins ‘America’s Got Talent’ for Season 20, Heidi Klum Departs

For the upcoming 20th season, America’s Got Talent is planning to revamp its panel of judges.

Heidi Klum is stepping down from the show, allowing former judge Mel B to rejoin the panel, filling Klum’s spot alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and host Terry Crews. In the past, Mel B served as a judge on the NBC series from 2013-18 and on the spinoff AGT: Fantasy League in 2024.

AGT is set to premiere on May 27, with live shows beginning in August.

Rumors suggesting that Klum might not participate in America’s Got Talent this year started circulating a few weeks back due to her recent return to Project Runway for its 21st season. This new season will air on Freeform and later become available for streaming on both Disney+ and Hulu.

Cowell expressed great delight as we enter our 20th season,” he said, given that he was both the creator and executive producer of the series. “Throughout these years, we’ve witnessed extraordinary talents and met truly remarkable individuals. It’s not an understatement to say that a mere two or three minutes can alter one’s life trajectory. I’d like to extend my gratitude to every contestant, our loyal fans who have supported us annually, and to NBC for their unwavering faith in this show. Lastly, let me acknowledge the exceptional team, both past and present, whose efforts make this show truly special. As always, I eagerly anticipate meeting this year’s contestants.

Audition opportunities for season 20 are currently available! On February 6, a comedy showcase hosted by Mandel will take place at The Ice House in Pasadena, California. Additionally, an open call is scheduled for March 10 at the Pasadena Civic Center. For those interested, online submissions for auditions are also accepted.

Syco Entertainment, a partnership between Fremantle and Cowell, is responsible for the creation of America’s Got Talent. In this role, Cowell and Sam Donnelly function as the show’s executive producers.
