Lionsgate will serve as the dwelling place for Mel Gibson’s movie titled “The Resurrection of the Christ“, which is a sequel to their groundbreaking 2004 film, “The Passion of Christ“.
The company revealed on Thursday that they are collaborating with Gibson, along with Bruce Davey through his Icon Productions label, for the film’s production. They plan to release the finished movie globally.

On Thursday, it was disclosed that the company is joining forces with Gibson and his partner at Icon Productions, Bruce Davey, for the production of a movie. Once completed, they will distribute it worldwide.
Numerous individuals worldwide view ‘The Resurrection of the Christ’ as the most eagerly awaited theatrical production in decades. This film, which promises to be breathtaking and epically grand, is certain to leave cinema-goers spellbound, according to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson. I have a long-standing relationship with both Mel and Bruce that spans three decades, and I’m delighted to be collaborating with them once more on this monumental occasion for viewers.
The agreement extends Gibson’s prolonged partnership with Lionsgate, a studio where he produced his last two films – the critically acclaimed war film “Hacksaw Ridge” and the thriller “Flight Risk“, featuring Mark Wahlberg which was released this year. Additionally, they distribute the Icon library, including “The Passion of the Christ“.
For a while now, Lionsgate’s courageous and inventive approach has resonated deeply with me, and I can’t imagine a better partner for The Resurrection of the Christ, said Gibson. I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Adam and his team on various occasions in recent years.
