Mercedes-Benz Teams Up with Sony Pictures for In-Car Entertainment

As a seasoned gamer and tech enthusiast who has spent countless hours huddled in darkened rooms, engrossed in immersive gaming experiences, I must admit that the advent of RIDEVU from Mercedes-Benz and Sony Pictures Entertainment has piqued my interest. The idea of transforming my car into a mobile cinema is nothing short of revolutionary!

Mercedes-Benz has teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment to offer its customers an innovative in-car entertainment option called RIDEVU. This service is accessible through the MBUX infotainment system and delivers a movie theater experience right inside vehicles. With RIDEVU, customers can choose from a variety of popular movies and stream them on as many as six screens within their vehicle or on connected devices.

In certain regions such as Germany, the UK, and Ireland, individuals who have an active MBUX Entertainment Package Plus subscription are able to access RIDEVU. The app offers a vast library of content that is frequently updated, and users can also choose to rent or buy movies, with both recent blockbusters and timeless classics available in high-definition.

The interface allows seamless browsing, streaming and content sharing between screens. Mercedes-Benz is also planning to expand the service with premium audio formats for vehicles equipped with Burmester sound systems. Future updates will include content synchronization across multiple screens, enhancing the experience further. As Chief Software Officer Magnus Östberg notes, the collaboration with Sony Pictures is designed to elevate in-car entertainment, offering a cutting-edge, theater-like experience that aligns with the Mercedes-Benz brand.

For security reasons, the driver will be able to open the app exclusively through the main screen when the vehicle is stationary or when Drive Pilot is turned on.
