On a recent announcement made on Wednesday, Mercury Records revealed that it has appointed Tyler Arnold as both its chairman and CEO, while Ben Adelson takes on the roles of president and COO.
Since the label’s rebranding in 2022, Arnold and Adelson have been associated with it, where Arnold was the president and Adelson served as general manager. They will now be overseen by Monte Lipman, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Republic Collective, and Avery Lipman, the founder, vice chairman, and COO. Notably, Adelson previously worked under Avery Lipman in 2008, serving as an assistant.
As avid fans, we’ve been lucky enough to witness Tyler and Ben’s remarkable journey since they started at Republic. It’s truly awe-inspiring to see their progress, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that they are setting the stage for greatness. With Mercury, they’re constructing a legacy that pays tribute to the label’s rich past by nurturing, introducing, and boosting the upcoming crop of artists who will define careers in the industry.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m currently riding high on the music scene as Mercury’s top 20 albums this year have me hooked! Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion and The Diamond Collection, Noah Kahan’s Stick Season (Forever), Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At A Time and Dangerous: The Double Album are my go-to tunes, all thanks to a partnership with Big Loud. It’s a blast reminiscing about the days when I used to be an assistant at Republic Records and watched Post Malone rise to fame! Adding to the excitement, he bagged no less than eight 2025 Grammy nominations!
Arnold kick-started his professional journey at Republic Records in 2014, balancing his studies at Northeastern University with this new role. His internship transformed into an A&R assistant position over time. He swiftly climbed the ranks at the label, assuming the title of vice president in 2017 before the rebranding of Mercury.
Over the past three years at Mercury, we’ve had an exceptionally memorable journey. I couldn’t be more proud of our artists, our team, and the unique environment we’ve nurtured,” Arnold shared in a statement. “Ben and I aimed to establish a label that fostered artist growth through dedication, patience, and genuine focus on A&R and marketing. I’m deeply thankful for Monte and Avery’s ongoing belief in our vision, and I’m thrilled about the upcoming phase of Mercury Records.
Initially, Adelson started as an intern at Republic in the year 2007. Later, he worked as Lipman’s assistant. After returning to Republic in 2011, he has held various positions such as Vice President of A&R, Senior Vice President of A&R, and Executive Vice President of A&R. Throughout his tenure, he has signed several artists like Noah Kahan, James Bay, and Conan Gray.
Adelson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to further strengthen Mercury Records’ legacy. What he’s most proud of is our genuine and vibrant artist lineup, as well as the exceptional team we have assembled,” Adelson stated in a statement. “Thank you to Monte and Avery for their ongoing assistance and wisdom.
Arnold will keep working from Mercury’s New York main office, whereas Adelson stays put at the label’s Los Angeles base.
