As a seasoned gamer with a wallet that sometimes feels like it’s seen better days, I must say, the Meta Quest 3S has caught my attention. Coming in at $300 USD, it’s like a beacon of hope for us budget-conscious gamers who yearn to dive into the immersive world of mixed reality without breaking the bank.
Meta has developed a mixed reality headset, referred to as the Meta Quest 3S, which comes with the same features as the Quest 3 but at a more affordable price. This new headset is gaining popularity among those new to mixed reality and immersive experiences, as well as individuals looking to upgrade from their existing Quests (1 or 2).
The Quest 3S comes in at $300 USD, compared to the Quest 3’s $500 USD. The latter device was originally priced at $650 USD and just dropped last year, though Meta says it’s using the same technology it developed for the headset in the Quest 3S.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about features like Full-Color Passthrough, which lets me peek into the real world even while immersed in a virtual reality adventure. Notably, they’ve given Meta Horizon OS a complete makeover for spatial computing and significantly enhanced the functionality of 2D apps too.
The Meta Quest 3S is available for pre-order now with 128 and 256GB options.
