As a longtime fan and admirer of Metro Boomin‘s groundbreaking work in the music industry, I am deeply saddened and disheartened by the recent allegations against him. It is truly heart-wrenching to learn that someone who has brought so much joy and creativity into our lives may have caused such pain and trauma.
A Grammy-winning artist and record producer, Leland Wayne (better known as Metro Boomin), is facing a lawsuit due to accusations of sexual assault. The accuser claims that the incident occurred at a California recording studio back in 2016.
Lawrence Hinkle, representing Wayne, dismissed the accusations as nothing more than an extortion attempt, vowing that Wayne would file a counterclaim. He further stated, “Wayne declined to compensate her several months ago, and he’s not doing so now.
In a court case lodged in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, Vanessa LeMaistre claims that she first encountered Wayne back in 2016 in Las Vegas. It was through a mutual friend that she was introduced to the music producer, who subsequently invited her to come see him in California.
Upon reaching the studio, it’s mentioned that LeMaistre was offered an alcoholic beverage. Additionally, records show she consumed medicine to manage anxiety, a condition she’d been dealing with since her son passed away earlier in the year.
LeMaistre asserts that she fell unconscious while seated on a couch, observing Wayne recording. Upon regaining consciousness, she found herself immobile and unable to speak, according to the lawsuit, in a separate location where Wayne was alleged to have been raping her.
The account outlines an instance where the producer allegedly engaged in several intimate actions with LeMaistre, who appeared to be in and out of awareness. Upon regaining consciousness, she claims to have found herself at a hotel in Beverly Hills, swiftly escorted back to the studio afterwards.
A few weeks past, LeMaistre asserts that she terminated a pregnancy which she maintains was due to the rape incident.
The lawsuit supports its claims about the incident by referencing lyrics from Wayne’s song “Rape Saved Me.” This song contains verses such as, “She took a pill (Xanny), then she passed out. I come from a tough background, can’t be tamed. From the streets, rap has rescued me. She drove me mad, made me her lover.
In a more recent development, song lyrics have been utilized as proof in court by prosecutors pursuing racketeering accusations against rapper Young Thug, related to suspected gang violence. This has sparked debate about potential infringements on free speech rights and the possibility of racial bias influencing jury decision-making processes.
Such evidence has rarely been allowed in civil cases.
In the 2010s, Wayne, a well-known producer in the realm of rap music, achieved fame by working with various artists from Atlanta, such as Future, Young Thug, and 21 Savage, along with others. Notably, in 2022, he was responsible for producing the soundtrack for the movie “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
As a gamer, I usually don’t share about my experiences with sexual assault unless I decide to make it public myself. This is because outlets like The Hollywood Reporter generally don’t name individuals in such situations unless they choose to come forward.
