Jimmy Butler is heading west to play for the Golden State Warriors.
Reports indicate that ESPN’s sources claim a trade has been made between the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors, with Jimmy Butler going to the Warriors in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a protected top-10 first-round pick in 2025. Notably, this move comes after Butler declined his $52 million player option for the upcoming season, instead opting to sign a two-year contract worth $111 million, running through the 2026-2027 seasons.
The trade sending Butler to the Golden State Warriors happened following Kevin Durant’s announcement that he had no plans to rejoin the Warriors, with whom he played and won championships between 2016 and 2019.
Since 2019, Butler has been a member of the Heat, but recently their bond seems to have weakened. This season, the team has suspended him not once, not twice, but three times. His upcoming return will be on March 25 against the Warriors, marking about two months since his last match played.
