As a seasoned gamer who has seen countless remakes and adaptations of beloved classics, I must admit that my initial skepticism was piqued when I heard about Michael B. Jordan taking on the directorial duties for the latest version of The Thomas Crown Affair. However, upon reflecting on his impressive body of work, particularly his directorial debut with Creed III, I find myself growing more optimistic about this project.
Michael B. Jordan has a new project coming up, where he will both star in and direct the remake of the iconic heist movie known as “The Thomas Crown Affair”. According to Deadline, Jordan has officially signed on to direct this film for Amazon MGM Studios, with plans for a global cinema release.
This movie serves as the third adaptation of the timeless story, with the latest version from 1999 featuring Pierce Brosnan in the lead role. Brosnan portrayed a wealthy playboy suffering from kleptomania, who indulged in stealing art for leisure until he encountered his nemesis – an insurance investigator. Later on, these two developed romantic feelings towards each other. The 1968 version of the film was helmed by Norman Jewison and starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Michael B. Jordan and his Outlier Society team’s ongoing project. After the triumph of “Creed III,” Jordan’s hunger to step behind the camera once more was palpable. Drew Pearce has crafted the script for this remake, while Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will also take on producer roles. This year, Pearce made a splash in theaters with “The Fall Guy,” an action-packed film featuring Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling, which he wrote. Furthermore, Jordan is slated to collaborate with Ryan Coogler on an upcoming untitled event film from Warner Bros., set to premiere in 2025.
