It seems that Microsoft might be considering adding Marvel’s beloved superhero from the neighborhood to the Xbox series of gaming systems.
Attentive viewers spotted an unexpected cameo during the 00:03 minute mark of Xbox’s promotional video for their event at IGN’s FanFest. It was Miles Morales from the Spider-Verse, not the version developed by Insomniac, who made a fleeting appearance.
Many people are puzzled about this: why is a character owned by Sony appearing in a promotional ad for Microsoft? Fans have jumped into the discussion, proposing various ideas such as a possible hint for Spider-Verse 3 or a new Spider-Man video game, among other possibilities that seem unrelated to these scenarios.
Nevertheless, this situation brings up an intriguing point – what could be the reason for its existence in the first place? It’s common knowledge that Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are exclusive to Xbox competitors, and Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Verse movies. This might suggest a possibility: Microsoft could have negotiated a deal with Sony for a Spider-Verse project.
It remains uncertain what we’re dealing with. Clarity will only come when the complete demonstration happens on February 24 at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Indeed, it’s just conjecture at this point, but envisioning a Spider-Verse game in the style of Telltale Games isn’t entirely unreasonable. Given that the third movie is approaching, such a concept seems particularly fitting.
It’s worth noting that Telltale isn’t included in Xbox’s collaborating studios. Instead, the spotlight was on DONTNOD, particularly their projects Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, as well as Playstack, No More Robots, Raw Fury, Team 17, 11 bit Studios, and other studios.
If it’s not developed by Telltale Games, it might be a different venture from one of the other creators instead. Fans will just have to keep their fingers crossed.
In the least favorable situation, there might be an alliance formed between Microsoft and Xbox with Sony, leading to Spider-Man films being accessible on their platform. Although this isn’t entirely unfavorable, as more Microsoft games are appearing on Sony consoles, it could soon become standard practice for Sony to offer Xbox games in return.
It’s still uncertain if anything will come true, but this intriguing possibility has definitely sparked enthusiasm among fans about what might lie ahead.
