Mike Birbiglia’s Stand-Up Fundraiser for YMCA Draws Judd Apatow, Nick Kroll and Larry Wilmore

As a seasoned gamer of life and laughter, I found myself utterly captivated by Mike Birbiglia’s recent fundraiser at Largo in Los Angeles. The man is a living testament to the power of humor for a good cause. His Emmy-nominated special, “The Old Man and the Pool,” resonates deeply with me, as I too have spent countless hours in those over-chlorinated pools that seem to breed more stories than microbes.

On a Monday evening, Mike Birbiglia made his way to Largo in Los Angeles, where he teamed up with his famous companions for a unique charity event that he was hosting.

The versatile comedian and sitcom hero, who is currently Emmy-nominated for his latest special titled “The Old Man and the Pool“, headlined the fundraising event “Mike Birbiglia and Friends.” This gathering managed to collect almost $20,000 for the YMCA of Greater Los Angeles. The humor in simply acknowledging the cause of Birbiglia’s generosity might leave some in stitches. His widely-praised special showcases numerous jokes about his experiences at the YMCA, its overly chlorinated pool, and how it significantly impacted his life. Although there’s a joke regarding the abundance of locker room penises, that aspect is not the primary focus.

I was thrilled to be part of the lineup alongside Judd Apatow, Nick Kroll, Larry Wilmore, Atsuko Okatsuka, and Billy Strings at Birbiglia’s event before his grand performance this weekend at L.A.’s Kia Forum. The highly-anticipated release of Billy Strings’ album, Highway Prayers, is set for September 27th. Zooey Deschanel and her fiancé Jonathan Scott were also gracing the stage as special guests at Birbiglia and Friends.

comedian Birbiglia is running a Charitybuzz auction to collect funds for the local YMCA. He’s offering original notes from his work on “The Old Man and the Pool.” As of now, Apatow has placed bids but finds himself outbid by a substantial margin, with just a week left before the auction ends. The money raised will support the YMCA of Greater New York.
