Musical biographies are a well-established film genre, providing audiences with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their favorite musicians. Despite Timothée Chalamet’s Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown receiving some Oscar nods, more movies of this kind are under production. This includes Jon M. Chu’s project about Britney Spears, and there’s much anticipation regarding who will portray the Pop Princess. With Millie Bobby Brown sporting a platinum blonde look now, speculation is rife about her involvement in an upcoming musical biopic.
Ever since the news broke out about Britney Spears’ life being adapted into a musical movie, there’s been an ongoing discussion among fans about who could play the ‘Toxic’ sensation. While many are excited about Selena Gomez potentially joining ‘Stranger Things 5’, she’s also been suggested as a strong contender to portray Spears – especially given her recent blonde makeover. The 21-year-old actress recently addressed these rumors with Access Online, commenting:
She’s truly a legendary figure. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I’d jump at the chance to contribute to her journey. However, that’s her path, and I wholeheartedly endorse her telling it in her own unique way. Instead, what I yearn for is someone to present her story in the most captivating manner possible. I’m always open to opportunities like that.
Here I am, sharing some exciting news! Although Brown hasn’t landed the role yet, it seems she’d be thrilled to embody the cherished pop star. With her being “open” to taking up the part, we can only speculate as to what casting choices Chu and his team will make in the end. So let’s crank up the music and enjoy “Work Bitch” while we wait!
In her comments, the star of Stranger Things (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription) made it clear that she wants Britney Spears to be happy with whoever is going to tell her story on the screen. Given Britney’s years as a celebrity and very public personal issues, I think most fans would agree with Brown’s sentiments. Funny enough, Millie Bobby Brown posted a ’90s glam shot on Instagram recently. Check it out below:

Details about Chu’s upcoming musical venture remain scarce, however, it is anticipated to be a musical adaption of Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me.” This book offers insights into Spears’ early life, her rise to global pop stardom, her romantic relationship with Justin Timberlake, and her experiences under the controversial conservatorship.
It’s uncertain at this point how the book will translate into a movie, but it’s expected that Britney Spears’ popular collection of songs will contribute to the plot. With a wealth of hits available for Jon M. Chu to choose from, the actor chosen for the main role should possess both singing and dancing abilities to portray the musical icon. Whether Millie Bobby Brown gets the part is still undecided.
