Minivan Crashes Into Crowd Near Downtown Los Angeles’ Fashion District, Injuring Nine Pedestrians

On Sunday, at least nine individuals suffered injuries when a minivan collided with a group of pedestrians in the heart of Los Angeles.

At precisely 3:16 PM Pacific Time, an incident unfolded on 12th street, close to Santee Alley and L.A.’s Fashion District, as per the Los Angeles Fire Department’s account. The nature of what triggered this mishap remains undisclosed, as it is currently under investigation. I can only hope that the truth will come to light soon.

CBS Los Angeles reported that the van “veered off the road and into a group of pedestrians.”

According to the LAFD, everyone involved – comprising three children among them – was in a “satisfactory state” directly following the event.

As reported by NBC Los Angeles, among those injured were two 23-year-old women who chose to leave the hospital against medical advice. Furthermore, there were four other women, aged 54, 65, 30, and 23, as well as three boys, aged 8, 11, and 17, all of whom were transported to a hospital for treatment.

As of 4:30 pm, NBC Los Angeles reported that a vehicle remained stuck near the entrance of Santee Alley, with a portion of 12th Street closed off in response. The local Department of Transportation has been informed to manage traffic in the area.

Based on reports from CBS L.A., it seems that a vehicle collided with some K railings, and part of an awning apparently detached and came to rest atop the van.

The Santee Alley, a unique open-air shopping destination, stretches out between Santee Street and Maple Avenue, covering the area from Olympic Boulevard up to 12th Street.
