Mister Antonio review – “A charming puzzler about a picky cat”

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for feline friends and intricate puzzles, I must admit that Mister Antonio has captured my heart and challenged my wits. The game takes me back to my childhood when I used to spend hours trying to please my own grumpy house cat, albeit in a much more engaging and entertaining way.

In simple terms, no one can equal a housecat’s self-importance and sass. If you’ve shared your home with one of these furry creatures, you understand they consider themselves in charge (or believe they are). Mister Antonio, a fresh puzzle game developed by Bart Bonte, challenges you to gather yarn balls for a cat named Mister Antonio. However, being a cat, he is quite particular, so you’ll need to plan ahead as you collect the desired yarn balls.

As You Wish, Mister Antonio

Every level is made up of one or more microworlds. You’ll see Mister Antonio, your beloved black cat, sitting outside your home. A thought bubble above his head indicates what colour yarn balls he wants and in which order. It’s up to you to pick up them as requested and present them to your fickle feline. Once you fulfil your cat’s request, he’ll scurry inside, and you’ll proceed to the next level.

In each miniature universe, the appearance is strikingly similar to a massive cluster of dark hair. Apart from the spheres and rare snowy wisps, every feature on these micro cosmos presents as a stark black silhouette. This contrasts beautifully with the star-studded backdrop of the night sky, making these forms stand out vividly on the screen.

Mr. Antonio features straightforward controls: Navigation is handled by arrows for left and right movement. A central arrow appears when transitioning between microworlds. Initially, the circular motion around each microworld may cause some confusion about which arrow to tap, but with practice, it becomes second nature.

Every time you grab a yarn ball, add it to the stack, making sure to remember where each one is placed. Occasionally, your cat might ask for certain balls to be dusted with snow. To achieve this, first pick up the yarn ball and then walk underneath a cloud before the cat can notice. Of course, your feline friend only wants snow when asked for it explicitly.

Work with Forest Friends to Satisfy Mister Antonio

Despite the elementary nature of the puzzles, they provide a sincere challenge. If you get stuck, you can watch an ad to receive the solution. To move between mini worlds, you’ll need to use ladders found at specific points. The limited paths make gathering balls in the right order more challenging. Luckily, the local fauna is happy to help you out.

In certain stages, you might encounter a moose or a squirrel. Each of these forest dwellers offers assistance uniquely. When you approach a moose, it reacts by ramming into you, thereby switching the arrangement of the balls in your possession.

Instead of leaving the yarn balls at the bottom, squirrels will pick one up from the stack and carry it up a tree, then leave it at the top on your side. To use this help from your woodland buddy, move around the tree and collect the ball from the top of your pile to make Mister Antonio happy.

Mister Antonio is a cheerful, simplistic game centered around colors that proves to be more challenging than expected. The black-and-white environment and colorful yarn balls offer an engaging visual experience. If you’re fond of puzzles or simply love cats, you’ll find joy in catering to Mr. Antonio’s every whim.
