As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both digital and real-life challenges, I can’t help but be intrigued by the latest innovation from Mizuno – the 3D U-Fit technology. My feet have been through countless hours of intense gaming sessions, and the idea of a custom-designed, stress-reducing sole that caters to my unique foot measurements is nothing short of music to my ears (or rather, soles!).
Mizuno, a prominent Japanese sports equipment and clothing brand, has developed a cutting-edge technology named 3D U-Fit. This innovation allows for the custom design, production, and printing of 3D shoe soles according to specific measurements.
This innovative, exclusive technology is designed to optimize how people fit into their shoes, offering them the ability to customize the width and comfort level within the soles according to their requirements. The initial launch will feature two distinct colors – white and black – each coming with two separate sole types, labeled “Type-A” and “Type-B.” The primary objective for both designs is to alleviate the wearer’s strain by distributing their weight uniformly across the foot’s sole.
For each size ranging from 22 to 29 centimeters, a sole is tailored based on the individual’s foot measurements, which are submitted to the Yamakazi Lambard factory, run by Mizuno Technics. It is there that the personalized sole, patented in both Japan and the U.S., is manufactured. This custom-crafted sole typically requires around two weeks to produce.
Beginning April 1, 2025, Mizuno Tokyo will begin taking custom shoe orders, each featuring a personalized fit. The price for these unique designs is set at 55,000 Japanese Yen.
