MobLand is pulling Paramount+ back in.
Paramount+’s popular show “MobLand” has been given the green light for another season. The streaming service reports that “MobLand” ranks as their second most-watched original series, coming in just behind “Landman”.
MobLand” has amassed over 26 million viewers worldwide, as per Paramount’s own statistics, which includes the number of views for episode one during its initial 70-day period. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the series has consistently ranked among the top 10 original SVOD series for five consecutive weeks on Nielsen’s list.
Guy Ritchie serves as an executive producer on the series “MobLand”, a production of Ronan Bennett, known for his work in shows like “Top Boy” and films such as “The Day of the Jackal”. Bennett collaborates with Jez Butterworth, famous for his contributions to “Ford v Ferrari” and “Spectre”, on the showwriting. Notably, Butterworth is under an exclusive TV overall deal with Paramount+ and Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. Additionally, David C. Glasser serves as executive producer for 101 Studios.
In “MobLand,” Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren lead an ensemble cast in a tale of two rival mob families engaged in a violent conflict that could bring down empires and lives. The supporting cast includes Paddy Considine from “House Of The Dragon,” Joanne Froggatt from “Downton Abbey,” Lara Pulver from “Da Vinci’s Demons,” Anson Boon from “Pistol,” Mandeep Dhillon from “CSI: Vegas,” Jasmine Jobson and Geoff Bell from “Top Boy,” Daniel Betts from “Fate: The Winx Saga,” Lisa Dwan from “Blackshore,” and Emily Barber from “Industry.
Boasting over 26 million viewers and still growing, the hit series MobLand is a massive success thanks to the exceptional creativity of Guy, Jez, Ronan, and David Glasser, and the captivating performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen. Chris McCarthy, one of Paramount Global’s CEOs and president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, expressed his joy in a statement by announcing that a second season has been greenlit for this worldwide phenomenon. It has topped domestic and international charts, reaching the number one spot in the UK.
Produced in collaboration with MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution, ‘MobLand’ is a show that boasts executive producers such as Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Tom Hardy, Dean Baker, Anthony Byrne, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.
In one of those remarkable instances, Chris McCarthy presented us with the idea of crafting an outstanding mob series. After a journey across the British countryside in pursuit of Guy Ritchie, it became clear to us both that we had the perfect recipe. With the exceptional skills of Guy, Ronan, Jez and our exceptionally talented cast, we transformed that vision into reality.
For me, the world of TV was initially unfamiliar and I hesitated to fully embrace it. However, the innovative creativity and tactical brilliance demonstrated by Chris, David, and their teams at Paramount and 101 Studios, shifted my perspective dramatically. Working alongside Chris, David, Guy, and our exceptional cast has been an awe-inspiring experience. I’m eagerly looking forward to delving into the second season of MobLand.
