As an ardent fan of Monali Thakur, I must say her dedication to her craft and respect for her audience is truly commendable. Her recent incident in Varanasi was heartbreaking, but it showcases her unwavering professionalism and integrity.
Monali Thakur, a playback singer who has won National Film Awards and has fans worldwide, often sees her enthusiastic admirers spending substantial amounts of money to witness her live performances. Lately, she performed in Varanasi at an event, but unfortunately, only 45 minutes into the show, she had to pause and apologize to the audience for having to leave abruptly. She attributed this sudden departure to poor management, expressing her bewilderment by saying, “I can’t fathom why they would create such a shoddy stage just to swindle money.
On December 22, Monali Thakur made her way to Varanasi for a live performance at a vast open area where eager fans had gathered. Unfortunately, she was dismayed by the inadequate management which led her to prematurely end her show. A clip from the event, currently trending online, shows the singer speaking directly to the audience about the situation.
Thakur began by expressing her disappointment since she and her team were looking forward to presenting at the venue. Unfortunately, the quality of the infrastructure and management left much to be desired. “It’s hard for me to believe they built that stage just to pocket some cash,” she exclaimed.
The performer behind “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage” added that she had often warned about potentially hurting her ankle. Her dancers were urging her to relax, but things seemed chaotic. Furthermore, they emphasized their efforts because they are responsible to everyone in the audience and will be held accountable for any mishaps like this.
Instead of relying on unreliable individuals in the future, she aspired to mature sufficiently to handle all her concert responsibilities alone. Regrettably, she had to cancel the current show due to unforeseen circumstances and apologized to her fans. However, she vowed to return, put on a superior performance, and make it up to them. Essentially, she asked for their understanding and forgiveness.
Among the well-known tunes by Monali are “Sawaar Loon” from Lootera, as well as “Badri Ki Dulhania” from the movie Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and many others.
