As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Monster Hunter: Wilds has once again managed to captivate me with its intricate world and fearsome creatures. The Rey Dau, this electric-charged sandstorm of fury, is no exception.
As a thrilled enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement as the Monster Hunter: Wilds Open Beta is finally here, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, and Steam! It’s time once again to immerse myself in CAPCOM’s eagerly awaited action RPG adventure.
Similar to other Monster Hunter games, it’s the monstrous creatures that truly captivate players. It’s tough not to be impressed by Capcom’s ever-expanding roster of fantastical beasts, whose designs and backstories can sometimes border on the absurdly creative.
In Monster Hunter, there’s a diverse collection of ferocious creatures, ranging from the small but agile Wyverns to the massive and formidable Elder Dragons, each adding their unique thrill to the game’s bestiary.
In Monster Hunter: Wilds, you’ll encounter a fresh array of enemies to vanquish, such as the airborne Wyvern known as Rey Dau.
Understanding the Rey Dau
Before we hunt this monster, let’s have a brief lore dump.
The Rey Dau is the Apex of the Windward Plains, a master of electricity and the sands. Its move set includes channeling an electric railgun that can one-shot unsuspecting hunters. So be careful it enters a supercharged state.
Apart from beaming potent laser blasts towards you, the Rey Dau is equipped with an additional ability: generating armored plates on its wings made of glass. By harnessing electrical energy, it can manipulate the sand around itself, converting the vicinity into a arena adorned with shimmering glass formations.
In Monster Hunter: Wilds, the Rey Dau is the initial Apex Predator encountered. This creature predominantly appears in the opening region, known as the Windward Plains.
The Rey Dau’s Location
Exploring where Rey Dau is hidden becomes quite straightforward, especially if you’ve been immersed in Open Beta for some time. As you play, you’ll become more aware of Monster Hunter: Wilds’ advanced weather system that changes dynamically. Every day goes through three phases – Fallow, Plenty, and Inclement. However, let’s concentrate on the Inclement phase.
As a nature enthusiast, I’ve come to appreciate the enigmatic, unpredictable nature of Inclemency – a weather phenomenon that stirs up unexpected events in the region. For instance, the treacherous Sandtide, its most perilous cycle on the Windward Plains, is something to be reckoned with. When the winds pick up and storm clouds gather overhead, it’s a sure sign that you’re drawing near to the elusive Rey Dau.
Locate the enigmatic symbol, represented by “???”, on your map, then allow your Secret and the scout insects to guide you towards that location.
Fighting the Rey Dau
After successfully catching its attention, let’s find out if you have the courage to confront the dominant figure in this desert landscape. If you’re well-versed with the controls of Wilds, defeating the Rey Dau should pose no challenge for you.
As a local enthusiast, I’d caution you about the unexpected thunderstorms that sweep through here. Sometimes, these storms can make it hard to see clearly, too. Additionally, be aware of the sandstorms that blanket the region. They can temporarily obscure your view.
When things take a turn for the worse, you have the option to signal for help from online hunters by launching an SOS flare, or alternatively, engage in gameplay with artificial intelligence (AI) companions as your companions.
Once the Rey Dau is defeated, its quest can be repeated by talking to your handler, Alma.
In Monster Hunter: Wilds, the Rey Dau might pose a danger, but it’s merely the initial Apex monster you’ll face. Another formidable creature is the Lala Barina, a spider belonging to the Temnoceran family. This spider has a rose-like abdomen that can induce paralysis.
