Lieutenant Sharon Garnet, played by Christie Burke, along with her brave team, is set to embark on further space expeditions in the third season of “The Ark”. SYFY has made this announcement official. If you’d like to get up-to-speed with the story so far, the first two seasons are available for viewing on Peacock right here!
Dean Devlin, one of the creators, showrunners, and producers of The Ark series, expressed his excitement through SYFY’s press release about the upcoming season launch. He said, “We can’t wait to get back into space, as the best is still to come!
Devlin, known for his iconic work in various genres such as ‘Stargate’ and ‘Independence Day’, collaborated with Jonathan Glassner (creator of ‘Stargate SG-1’) to develop this successful sci-fi series. Glassner also shares the role of co-showrunner and executive producer. They had previously worked together on the CW’s ‘The Outpost’.
For More on The Ark
In their discussion about the finale of The Ark Creators Season 2, they revealed a shocking death, and hinted at potential new beginnings. It seems that the crew may have discovered a new planet to inhabit, but there’s a twist – something is holding them back. Amidst all this, a funeral, a possible wedding, and a new captain are on the cards in the latest episode of The Ark.
100 years from now, “The Ark” story unfolds as humanity ventures into the cosmos in search of a new habitable planet to preserve the human species. In this journey, Richard Fleeshman portrays Lt. James Brice, Reece Ritchie plays Lt. Spencer Lane, Stacey Read takes on the role of Alicia Nevins, and Ryan Adams stars as Angus Medford. They join Burke in this adventure.
The final episode of the second season saw the survivors of humanity setting up a new base on another planet, which appears to conceal far more mysteries than initially thought. Moreover, numerous rescue operations are yet to be carried out as Garnet embarks on another space voyage with the crew, following distress signals from stranded Arks that haven’t reached safety yet.
Will there be a Season 3 of The Ark?
Yes! The Ark will return for Season 3 on SYFY in 2026.

In their conversation with SYFY Wire back in 2022, Devlin expressed that while Glassner’s sensibilities aren’t identical to his own, they blend exceptionally well. He praised Glassner for his rich storytelling and character development, stating that a series like “The Ark” primarily revolves around characters since the cast is confined within a spaceship. Due to this limitation, it’s challenging to introduce guest stars frequently, so it requires skillful writing to maintain the show’s intrigue and unpredictability. Jonathan, according to Devlin, excels at this craft.
Devlin explained: “The program features individuals in extreme circumstances, not engaged in battles with alien spaceships using lasers. Instead, they’re battling the environment itself and trying to survive. Moreover, they must navigate interpersonal conflicts as they may not always see eye-to-eye on the best way forward.
Alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson from Electric Entertainment, the production of The Ark is overseen. Meanwhile, Jonathan English of Balkanic Media and Mark Franco from Electric Entertainment take on the roles as producers.
When will Season 3 of The Ark air on SYFY?
The third season of SYFY‘s The Ark is set to premiere in 2026.
