Mortal Kombat 1 Offers New Look at the T-1000 Terminator

In an interesting twist of events, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s original T-800 Terminator was a playable character in Mortal Kombat 11. Now, his adversary, the T-1000, is set to appear in Mortal Kombat 1.

In the upcoming Kombat Pack 2, you’ll find the T-1000 joining the fray, and a tantalizing sneak peek has surfaced, showcasing the Liquid Terminator wreaking havoc on Johnny Cage.

Judgement Day Comes to MK

I’m thrilled to share that the T-1000 is making its grand entrance in Mortal Kombat 1 this coming March! Although we haven’t seen much yet, NetherRealm has given us a sneak peek of what this formidable foe can do. The short preview showcases the T-1000’s impressive moves and shapeshifting abilities. I can hardly wait to see more!

His logline reads: “A T-1000, advanced prototype. A mimetic poly-alloy. Liquid metal.”

As I’ve been exploring this game so far, it appears that my character has a knack for morphing into different forms, which is quite the game-changer! I can switch between sword hands to slice through enemies or hooks to snatch them up real quick. Moreover, the liquid form seems to be quite handy for getting around, and I’ve noticed the T-1000 character moves swiftly while dishing out damage in this state.

Remarkably, it’s Robert Patrick who originally portrayed the T-1000 in the films, and he is set to lend his voice to this character once more in the upcoming game. Not long ago, you might have seen him on HBO’s Peacemaker, playing the role of Peacemaker’s father. Intriguingly, Peacemaker was initially introduced as a guest character in Kombat Pack 1. The forthcoming encounters between these two characters in the game promise to be quite engaging.

It’s important to mention that alongside the fall of T-1000, Kameo fighter Madame Bo is introduced, who initially appeared as a supporting character in MK1‘s storyline. Now, she’s integrated into the game and can be called upon for aid during gameplay.

“Come with Me If You Want to Live”

In the movie “Terminator 2: Judgement Day,” a new model called the Liquid Terminator made its debut, designed to enhance the existing power of the T-800 played by Schwarzenegger. Unlike the T-800, which was large and powerful, the T-1000 was agile and had the ability to transform, with its limbs acting as weapons or mimicking different facial expressions based on the people it encountered.

The T-1000 model had a limitation; it wasn’t capable of replicating intricate machinery, which meant it couldn’t transform its hand into a firearm. Additionally, it was vulnerable to extreme temperatures.

In terms of the “Terminator” series, it appears that the T-1000 was the final model among them that could be considered ‘benevolent’, echoing Schwarzenegger’s portrayal. New iterations of Terminators include blending liquid metal with an endoskeleton and a Terminator made entirely from nanomachines, which also emerged in the storyline.

In the most recent installment, portrayed by Gabriel Luna in “Dark Fate”, they endeavored to combine the endoskeleton and liquid metal once more. Notably, these components were now capable of dividing, allowing the Terminator to exist in two different locations simultaneously.

Too bad the movie wasn’t so well-received though.

Is This the Last DLC Character?

Despite earlier speculations suggesting that Kombat Pack 2 would be the final expansion for MK1, recent developments hint that there might be additional DLC characters on the horizon.

Given that MultiVersus is about to be released, it’s possible that Warner Bros. Games could redirect some of their resources towards the Mortal Kombat team to add more characters.

In the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1, scheduled for release on March 18, the T-1000 Terminator will make an appearance. This action-packed game is currently available to play on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
