Mountain Research SS25 Offers Playful “Post-Tech” Gear

Instead of sticking to its former line of all-black utilitarian designs, Mountain Research enters 2025 with a fresh perspective and positive outlook. For the Spring/Summer (SS) collection of 2025, this Japanese brand delves into the idea of “post-tech.” With outdoor clothing becoming more integrated into everyday wardrobes, the blending of casual and craft-inspired styles leads to a more inviting and versatile aesthetic.

Mountain Research presents a vibrant assortment of strong primary colors and earthy textures such as corduroy, suede, and woven fabrics with texture. Embracing its unique “Anarcho-Mountaineer” philosophy, one ensemble stands out with a red fleece suit paired with a yellow t-shirt beneath, red gloves, and a big hiking pack adorned with carabiners and trinkets. A different set of coordinated looks in white and blue features denim trucker jackets cut short, worn over quilted materials to create a skirt-like panel.

Of course, the collection also features classic outdoor clothing items such as a collar shirt reminiscent of a fisherman, paired with corresponding trousers, and a white and black shell jacket and trouser combo embellished with Anarcho-Mountaineers branding in another part.

“The song ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ by The Verve is referenced in various items such as a sun visor with green tint and the track’s name printed on its headband, as well as vintage hiking-themed graphic tees. Mountain Research has also introduced a collection of mesh jerseys featuring designs like a “Holiday in the Mountains” jersey, a predominantly blue “Slide Away” jersey, and a football-style yellow “Mountain Hymns” jersey.

The Mountain Research SS25 series is all set to go live on their official site this coming Friday, January 17th. Take a look at the entire lineup in the gallery above.
